OK, first of all apologies for yet another tyre thread!

Had my the Leon FR TDI now for nearly a year, the front tyres (P6000's) are nearly on the wear indicators and I've done getting on for 10K, I reckon there is about another 1 or 2 k left in them.

Question is what to replace them with? I think I've got three options

1) 2 x Pirelli P6000's for £191 fitted (keeps all the tyres the same)
2) 2 x Dunlop 9000's for £181 fitted (Tyre bloke tells me these increase road noise, any opinions on this?)
3) 2 x Goodyear GDS3's for £191 fitted. (Thread pattern is pretty)

I know mileage depends on driving style but how do you guys rate these tyres and what sort of mileage do you get to a pair of fronts?

Pirelli P6000 are rubbish! If you rate them then you are not driving to the cars capability
I ran P6000 on my 306 GTI-6 and it was like a CAT on ice in the wet!!

Not tried the Dunlop so cant comment

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 are the best by miles!! used them on my 300 bhp rear wheel drive Nissan and they were the only tyres I felt comfortable with driving it!! Grip is superb and they feel very sure footed!

Bridgestone S03's are a close second for me I have ran these on an MR2 Turbo and the grip levels are superior to any other tyre in the dry but in the wet they lose out to the F1's

Third choice would be Toyo Proxi t1-r's great all rounder!!

Best budget sports tyre for me would be Avon ZZ3's or Hankook Ventus Sport's

I haven't tried anything else on the car yet so don't know how shi*e the Pirellis are, but I take your point grip isn't the best, a lot of my miles are on the motorway so I want a trade off betweem life and grip.

Had Avon's on previous cars and thought they were quite soft.

I've got Goodyears all round.

Huge amounts of grip in all conditions (except snow) and they are very quiet on the motorway.

Seem to be lasting quite well so far.

GSD3 all the way :)

They knock seven shades out of the P6000's in both grip & wear. I had 24k out of a set on the scooby and bearing mind I didnt exactly treat 'em gentle!

Avons are a touch on the soft side, grippy bit they wear quite quickly.

Hi. probably a very obvious question. but i am due a new set of fronts and gonna gor for the Eagle f1's or similar bridgestones (present standard bridges'), can i use a slightly wider tyre on same rim? standard 205/55/16, say 215 on same rim?
