My Formentor is a relatively thirsty 333ps, 0-60 in 4.6 sec high-tec beast.

My other motor is a tiny, 16-year-old, 55mpg, 68hp, 1.0L city car, 0-60 eventually, with no bling except for aircon.

It's actually a toss-up which one I prefer. I know which one I love (and it ain't the Cupra).

How about you?

My other car is the Garage Queen a 40th Anniversary 230 bhp RX-8 my 4th RX-8 this one bought new in 2008 and now on 30K miles, only 200 were produced in Pearlescent Crystal White with Bilstein suspension, black and stone coloured leather upholstery and I still love driving this brilliant Rotary powered car.

That’s lovely. I worked with a guy who had a metallic blue RX-8 that I always thought was a great car.

I bought my first 350z in 2004, when the RX-8 and the Z were 'rivals', with the Chrysler Crossfire being somewhere in the mix too. Nice looking cars, but with a reputation as oil burners?

The RX-8 was always a much maligned car, yes they do use oil because they are designed to use oil to lubricate the Rotors and it is only a small amount if the car is treated/maintained properly, I have owned 4 RX-8`s and never found oil consumption to be a problem but many drivers bought them (lots of boy racers) without regularly maintaining the oil supply hence the Rotor seals wore prematurely followed by reduced engine compression and increased oil consumption.
if you get a properly maintained RX-8 you realise what a great one off car it is, a purpose built Mazda sports car and not just a run of the mill family hatchback tweaked with uprated supension and a turbocharged engine!

^^^^ Tiny engine?

What about the enormous front wing / splitter and rear wing?

That is simply gorgeous. When I used to go to Japfest type events I always lusted after the targa-top Supras - lovely looking cars too.

Here's the last in my line of Z cars 😭 On paper, at 5.1sec, it's not quite as quick as my Formentor, but I'd back it in a head-to-head around a track anyday, because of the superior handling...

Its incredible to think that the 350Z with its 3.5 litre V6 lump managed the exact Top Gear lap time of 1:31.8 as the 1.3 litre Rotary engined RX-8, it just demonstrates the amazing handling of the RX-8.

But its a actually like a 2.6l engine or more in horse power output in the way it works , its not actually a 1.3l
