Yer im happy. My only specific to me complaint, is they can be tricky to get in and out of, especially if your me! :cartman: The low A pillar and seat bolsters mean you have to stoop to get in and out. But once your in the car, they are roomy enough even for me. ;)

Must admit I found myself always catching my calf muscle (and therefore tousers) on the door cill too. As it was a nice clean dealer example there was no big issue but covered in dirt it may irritate me.

As you say nothing is ever perfect and you have minor niggles you can live with.

I'm surprised the 'other' SEAT website weren't invited along too  :p :hide:

nice pictures and test, but i still find the cupra to soft ,not hard-core enough....and the the brakes can work well but in my opinion they are not so cool as the brembos........i hope that there will be a cupra R model with 4pots brakes and more agressive body styling
and while tehy are at it 4x4 please

SEAT don't do 'R' models anymore - the FR is the equivalent of the old Cupra and the new Cupra takes the place of the old 'R'.

Awesome review boys, many jealous readers here.. What's weird is you could make an FR look like a cupra really cheaply - rebadge, black mirror caps and black centre bumper.

You could! And as much as i know that folks maybe expected a different look, and that folks say' it looks too much like an FR' ! Actually makes me think, so what! The FR is a good car to look at, nothing wrong with it.

What you can't add to an FR cheaply is that engine, and simply chipping an FR won't cut the mustard ;) And that running gear makes a huge difference too. ;)

Nope, just my own personal opinion. As m0rk says, they are about to get around £20k from me, rather than me getting anything from them.

Just because someone has an enthusiasm for something, doesn't mean they are on the take. This forum and website were built on those principles. The only money we get from sponsors, goes right back into funding this place for you lot, to use for free.

I understand to some people thats a lost art, you know just doing something purely for the enjoyment!

Well zboyd and mork i don't say alot on here even though i do read every day, but this is the thing that people forget, it takes alot of time and effort to run a forum this big, i am a mod on our forum for work (tiling site) and i do not put as much into it as others do at work but it still takes alot of my personal time and effort.

For you guys to do what you do for these forums takes alot and i am sure it is all most certainly not as much fun like the drive in the cupra was, and people do not realise that really there is no money in running a forum.

So thanks for the review, the great forum and also the hard work all of you put in.
The cupra may or may not be what people expected but if everyone liked the same thing we would all be driving the same boring car......

Take into account the days off work/year & fuel costs & we'd be well into big enough chunks

hi guys!!from someone that allready has the car i believe your review was spot on!!some quick questions for you if you don"t mind? 1)how many km where on them when you drove them?because now i have 1100km and so far i was behaving very gently to the car! 2)no road or tyre noise from the back of the car?just a little? 3)did you feel the car to come alive for a second time after 5500 rpm? 4)after hard braking for a while was there any squeking from the brakes? cheers!!

1) Mine had about 500miles, Z's had 800miles
2) Yes, a little - no sound proofing to speak of & a very thin boot carpet would be the cause (it wasn't intrusive though in my eyes)
3) god yes, 5500-7200 was the most fun
4) not that I noticed, but it was cold so the windows were up

I think the optional boot liner may help reduce noise in the back, only a guess mind you, and i wouldn't say it was obtrusive. Certainly quieter inside than my Leon R was. But the boot carpet was very thin, with no apparent sound proofing visible under it.

Indeed the higher it was revved the more fun it was. Leon R's even tuned ones, don't like being up in high rpms for long, performing much better in the mid rpm's. The new Leon Cupra just loves to rev and rev high. :)

I didn't notice any noise from the brakes, i had my window down on a couple of occasions, to hear how the car sounded :) Damp brake pads though often plagued the old Leon for squeeks?? Could just be a brake compound thing, maybe soon more aftermarket pads maybe an option.

Popping the pads out and applying some copper grease to the backs could also help stop this, they may of been a bit economical with the copper slip in the factory?

I was @ the Scottish Motor sport show today and Knockhill had a stand there, they have purchased a few Leon Cupra's and you can drive them on their track with an instructor showing you the ropes before they let you loose on the track, lasts 1hr and costs £169(only drawback) going to save me pocket money LOL.

one more question guys(and eric and scott),it has not to do with the test drive but with your general knowhow.i reached 1200km and grandually opening the car up.before until 4000rpm now until 5500.at about 1500km i want to change the oil and then give it a real go for his money!is this a good procedure?what brand of oil you recomend and with what characteristics?by the way the car is flying!!!
