CUPRA KIRO has revealed its new Porsche-powered Formula E car for the 2026/27 season as the championship prepares to enter the GEN4 era.
The new car was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and marks the next stage of CUPRA’s Formula E programme following the extension of its partnership with KIRO announced earlier this year at Goodwood.
GEN4 represents a major step forward for Formula E, with the new cars capable of more than 335km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in under two seconds and featuring permanent all-wheel drive.
New GEN4 car revealed
CUPRA KIRO’s new car carries an evolved version of the team’s familiar copper-based identity, with the brand describing the design as a reflection of its ambition for the new generation of Formula E competition.
The car is Porsche-powered and will compete in the 2026/27 season, when the new GEN4 regulations come into force.
For CUPRA, the move into GEN4 continues its strategy of using Formula E as a platform for electric performance development and as a high-profile part of the brand’s wider motorsport programme.
Jake Hughes joins CUPRA KIRO
The Paris reveal also confirmed Jake Hughes as a new CUPRA KIRO driver for the coming season.
The British driver joins the team with previous Formula E experience and has already achieved two podium finishes and four pole positions in the championship.
He will race alongside Pepe Martí, who stays with CUPRA KIRO for a second consecutive season.
Martí finished as the highest-placed rookie last season and secured podium finishes in Monaco and Sanya, giving the team a mix of continuity and experience as it heads into the GEN4 era.
A new chapter for CUPRA KIRO
The new car and updated driver line-up underline how significant the GEN4 transition is for CUPRA KIRO.
With more performance, permanent all-wheel drive and a new Porsche-powered package, the team enters the 2026/27 season with a significantly different technical platform and a refreshed driver pairing.
For CUPRA, it is another step in reinforcing the role of electric motorsport within the brand, while giving KIRO a clearer foundation for the next phase of its Formula E programme.
