Well today i tried to fit the above, i know it has worked for the beezer boys but im afraid its not for the leon cupra's!

I did try every angle and upside down back to front and all sorts but where the inlet, outlets are situated it just wont work. There is plenty of room behind the crash barrier to fit it, but the inlet, outlets need to be on the left hand side near the original SMIC.

Here are a few pics of how and why etc please feel free to comment on any ideas although i dont think there is any tbh!!

Above i tried to see if it would fit with inlet/outlets facing the bumper but when trying to fit it, it was to tight and hit the bumper!

As you can see above the outlet hits the cars main body work so no use here either!!

Above this outlet is fine lines up with the original pipework of the SMIC

In the above drawing the circled bits are what need to be changed if it could be, that is...
If it was about 5cm shorter in height and then the right hand side circled was shorter by around 10-15cm narrower then it would be fine, and also the inlet outlets need to be on the same side where the SMIC is loacated!

This is just a guide on how it wont fit as far as i can see, as i know a few leon cupra owners where looking at the idea of it all, so hopefully im helping people in not wasting their time in doing it!!

Hope this helps!

And also have the FMIC for sale if any beezer boys read this!!

I havent heard about these ones no, has anyone? also what about cost and size as the renault fmic is as follows...

910mm width top end, 760mm width bottom end, 320mm high and 32mm depth!

the things are on the other side thats the only difference if i can remember, want to know wich one you need or if any tho

what things mate?? but if the above had the outlets on the same side as the forge it would be up and running now just cant justify £800+ for a fmic but then i do understand why there that price!

unlucky rob, nice try tho!

shame, would have been a good mod! :(

on the bright side... at least you know wat dimensions for an intercooler you can get away with now and also you now know where the inlet/outlet needs to be... so if u did look at a sprinter one, you could measure it up and then have a good idea whether it will fit!

check out ebay or sumic! ;)

yeah cheers james tried everything mate bloody thing lol well its ok some beezer boy can buy it so i havent lost anything just hours doing it, but will be looking into that one yes

its all part of modifying!

if you did find another OEM FMIC that fitted, you be a legend to most LEON owners!

hey im a legend anyway :drive1:

Is a shame would of loved to be the first leon cupra with one but hey will look else where now have also asked forge to see if they could make one similar size as the renault one to see how much they'd charge!

why not modify the car or better stil in fact get the cooler altered so it will fit

from the pics changing the pipes to the sides would make it a rather mint top job

looks a great fit

i have looked at this flapper but there is no way you can modify alter the car the inlets just really need to be on the right hand side of the fmic! but i know what you mean! it is a nice fit and stuff and was gutted cos it looks like the t*ts!

look a bit wider

just because both pipes run one side on a std one doesnt mean with a few thoughts and planning you cant run the pipes elsewhere

dont be so defeatist ;) get ya spanners out :)

haha ok you come round and have a look mate lol honest you'd have to cut away so much of the bumper run a huge massive pipe from one side to the other, so its not a defeatist attitude trust me i'd love to do a blue peter on it lol

blue peter lol... they would use toilet rolls with pvc glue instead of samco hoses and jubilee clamps!

and i gues the actuall IC would be a cornflake box?! ;)

kellogs frosties i'd say mate beefier fitting, and for jubilee clips it would be fancy pink ribbon with taslles god this is turning into camp my ride... o matt, wheres matt when you need him??

used to be called SPT iirc - lol

had a similar problem with driveforwards tdi a while back but after a good look and a few days of ideas we got it in the end

leave it on their anyway - looks great :)

gotta be easier than what im up to but thats the fun of thinking unique - its never easy
