Nope I havent paid anything lol!

Just want to check its ok to drive the car atm so I will check the ECU is sealed then hang fire on a remap I think, would love to know what my car is running atm tho lol, as two sets of people have told me it seems to run in their words "strong" for 156bhp and I can keep with a Civic Type R, may have to visit a rolling road, (i know they arent accurate) but would give me an idea

As said, get down Jabba or a revo supplier or another VAG tuner. I'd say go to Jabba as i have heard so many good things, even a few of my mates with g60's only ever go to jabba, and it's a 3 hour drive for some of them, but they tinker wit 1.8t's every day so send it there and they'll sort it.

They are strong cars when running well!

Im organising a Rolling Road Day in October?

Yeah get down to Jabba! They were SO helpful when i had to replace my ECU

Jabba is 145 miles from me lol! If I ever do end up getting anything done i will go to JKM in Portsmouth, only heard good things!

Just want to make sure its ok for me to drive the car ie check the ecu is sealed and if not call the monkeys up and ask why! lol

Yeah its a long way but you will get nothing but good Service! ;)

The plastic cover on top of the ECU isnt exactly sturdy

It may be worth investing in something a bit better too

investing in something better? What do you mean?

If it does need resealing I wonder if I should pay someone to do it or just use a hot glue gun?

Far easier than going to an RR day - and more representative... get logging with a knowledgeable person with vagcom.

I just mean the thin plastic sheet that covers the ECU! Its not very sturdy

Its known to not stop things getting in as well as it should so once you have had it checked over it may be worth getting a stronger cover for it to stop anything getting in

Fyi, MK3 Ibiza ECU codes:

6K0 906 032
6K0 906 032AA
6K0 906 032AB (Cupra R)

All NVVT cars, where as a Leon Cupra (not R) will prefix 06A... and be a VVT car (unless there were very early versions that aren't)

What does your ECU 'ID' as with a diagnostic tool? (VAG COM)

possibly, if the car has had a trial on it previously, you may see a reflash stop/fail at 20% burn... legacy of the trial code.

sounds like this outfit dont have the tools to do the job.

as kev says 6k0 is deffo ibiza, and they have strung you a line in their faffing about.

log it and look for air mass and request vs actual boost. 003 & 115 blocks in vag-com. If running higher boost all will be revealed.

Just had a look the ECU is 6K0 906 032!

Looks like the ECU has a metal case not plastic? I was going to pull it out to check that its sealed but its got to plastic plugs going into it which im reluctant to pull out incase it buggers something up!

I would do some logs Bill but i dont have VAGCOM

Is there a casing within the outer metal one which you would need to remove to see the actual chip inside the ECU? Or is the metal casing the only barrier before you get to the chip?

Just wondering if the guys who had a look may have not gotten right into the ecu but as I say i dont want to pull cables out to check if its going to cause an issue

pulling the plugs out wont do owt (you mean the wiring loom yeah?) just make sure they aint getting wet and they go back in properly

i wouldnt worry too much about it theres not much really you can do about, im sure theres screws holding the case together, its not just gonna come apart

what CupraTgirl meant i think was getting hold of a different type of cover for the ecu to shelter it, dunno if you've seen in certain peugeot/citroen engine bays but they have plastic covers that clip over the ecu, may try to get hold of one 1 day, might look ebay right now actually

if not logs do you have a boost guage? std level is 6-8psi approx.

ecu number is an ibiza one.
metal case yes. open it up and you will see chips.

a trick is to warm the ecu up to 40-50'C as it softens the sealer so its easy to peel apart. Same again when its been screwed together, to fuse it back together.

good point re making sure weather cover is adequate. factory item is a small black bit of plastic and abysmal quality from the factory.

Nope lol! No boost gauge, not very helpful am I!

Is it a major issue if the ecu has been opened and not warmed up to put it back together? Is it worth me using a glue gun or something similar to seal it back up??

ecucover.jpg

found in 30seconds on ebay, this one is new for 12quid delivered, ill hang on for a used one though as cant be sure it'll fit perfectly cos the ecu on mk3s is quite snug and used should be like half price

Ah I see, well it seems pretty dry up under the front window, im just really worried now that water will get in!

Might call the VW garage over the road and see how much it would cost to get it sealed back up!
