Since its now had its badly-needed clutch change work on my project car (MY91 Sierra Xr4x4) is now going to begin in earnest.

One of the first tasks is going to be to get the car cleaned up as having been stood variously on peoples drives and in what can only be described as a field for several months it is looking a tad agricultural!

The general body work cleaning I'm fine with - what I need some advice on is cleaning up the engine bay and also what would be the best way to deal with the various spiders that have taken up residence both in portions of the interior and the exterior.

Any advice?

For the engine, get some All Purpose cleaner, dilute 10:1 and spray on the bay (having covered all electrics. Leave to soak for couple mins, wipe/brush where required, and spray off. Once dry wipe everything down with dliuted poorboys bold n brite to leave a fab shine and finish. below is a pic from a detail I did on Sunday just gone:

For the interior, give it a damn good vac, then use a low foam upholstery cleaner to clean as required. Using the correct brushes and clothes will make the job alot easier too.

Have fun and dont forget to take before and after pics :)

cheers!

When you say "spray off" for the cleaner what would you use for this? Just water in a spray bottle or something a bit more powerful? Also would you recommend any additional steps before the main clean to remove the chunkier crud?

Oh rest assured I will be photo-documenting the whole procedure for everyones viewing pleasure and boring you all stupid with it!

All I need now is a weekend with something resembling decent weather!
