when i turn left (only), i think more than 90 degree turn, i get this metallic vibrating noise.

not sure where it's coming from.

sounds like something scorching against something else (metal against metal)
another way to descirbe it reminds me when my old car heat shield fell off and rattled against the exhaust.

what can this be.

someone mentioned arb, cv joint.
but doesn't make noise on right turn or going over bumps.

also what's cv joints for?thanks

CV = Constant Velocity joint.. It makes sure that power is delivered to the wheel at a constant speed even when it is at angle. It could be this that is making the noise. You can check to see if the boot is split which might be the problem.

can i see it without jacking the car up?
where is it? what's it look like?

don't think it's a wheel bearing. as i have to turn the wheel quite a bit, i.e. turning into a car parking space etc. doesn't sound on smaller angle turns

On my LCR I can just about see the CV boot at full lock. If you follow the drive shaft to the wheel you will see a big rubber boot covering the CV joint. This could be split and crap getting in which might have got into the joint.

Much easier to check it on a ramp cos you can only see the front of it at full lock.

Could be dust plates behind the discs...

If your car has those...

Had that a few years ago with a Golf. :)
