I am having the soft break pedal feeling at the moment on my fr. Every thing seems ok, pads and fluids are all ok . As the car has only done 17k ,this seems to be a bit strange. Has anybody else sufferd with this problem?  .

yeah I find my fr to have a little soft feel to the pedal

everything works fine but against my company astra that I drive every day it feels a little softer

Its called shitty standard brakes, upgrade and get soem 312's you wont have a soft pedal then, mine are spot on, no pedal travel at all tbh

I'm interested to know how increasing the diameter of the disks reduces pedal travel

I understand that it will make them more efficient but pedal travel?

technically the disks are wider as well AFAIK, so the caliper wont travel as far as on a narrower disk

???

but I thought the pads and disks were in light contact all the time, just more pressure when your foot on the pedal

the movement between pad and disk is like less that 1mm isn't it

maybe I'm not getting this but I cant get my head around why larger diameter disks cause less pedal travel

I dont either, but they do, when i had my 312's fitted, the pedal was much stiffer/firmer, had hardly anytravle tbh and when up to temp worked absolutly fantastic. I then drove a mates 20vt fr with standard brakes and the pedal travel was much longer than on mine. Maybe its to do with the amount of fluid in the resovoiur?

Steven, you gonna do a roadtrip over again next year? like this year? would be good to catch up again.

:roflmao: ah yeah good luck with that matey, think your gonna need it  ill have the diff off your car though if you have to sell it
