Berkshire!
Hello,

Im looking to get my LCR 225 remmaped very soon. I have looked around so many places. I have found a company called Celtic Tuning. The say my car can be mapped to 278bhp and for only £375. They would come to my house or work and explain me through every process they are doing. Would take around 2-3 hours including fitting of a miltek DV unit too for another £95. sounds great value, and they always reply back super quick to emails.

Anyone heard of this company before or used them? Please post.

Also any1 who has a LCR 225 remapped? can i know what company you used, how much it cost and any problems with it so far? and the bhp/torque gains?

Thanks guys!

I've been considering getting a remap done again and have been researching the forums, different companies, prices etc.

Came across celtic tuning and from what I read on their website, sound pretty good, and well priced too. I asked on here if anyone had heard of them or used them before, but didn't get a response.

Previously had my LCR remapped and I loved it - any excuse to go out for a drive I'd be gone! However, the fun was short lived, I had it removed as I was having a few engine problems, kinda got to the point I actually didn't want to drive my car any more :(

Anyway, it put me off for a while but now I'm out looking again at all the options, pro's & con's... I would also be very interested to hear some views on the celtic tuning remap :)

There are a lot of options around, Revo, Custom Code, Jabba, APR, AMD... Prices & gains are not wildly different, stage one is about £450 (give or take) and would give you about 265bhp (give or take). The main difference is the delivery of the extra power.

I don't think there are many questions that haven't already been asked about remaps... I've spent the past few weeks going through pages & pages of info, questions & answers, reports, reviews etc. on here and I've probably not even covered half of it! lol

278 on an optimistic rolling road. In reality 265bhp.

I never knew miltek made dump valves:shrug: They are exhaust manufacturers:)

I personally would only go to 1 of the top well known distinguished tuners for mapping (Revo/Jabba/APR + CC)

Call me a brand junkie, but I agree, I'd go with one of the big names there's not a lot in it in price and at least you have a wealth of people who have have tested it. The big names have more to lose by not helping you out in the event of a problem.

Definately get it done though :)

True miltek are exhaust makers, but they produced what they call a hyperboost DV which is mean to optimise boost so the throttle responds much quiker and lag is near enough taken away, my friend has one in his ibiza cupra r. and you can feel the throttle responce is slightly better than before.

These units work best is the car is remapped. Its not an atmospheric DV but a recirculating. I have heard they are pretty good. chack em out yourself guys

What kinda problems was you having after the remap bud? I mean i do love my car, and would only go for a remap if it didn't f**k the engine up.

I had a Milltek Hyperboost DV on my last Cupra. Worked perfectly and was easily as good as anything by forge. Personally REVO and APR would be my last port of call and even then, only if all the other tuners disappeared overnight.

STAR Performance, Custom Code and Jabba are all excellent in my opinion. Celtic Tuning seem to be along the lines of Upsolute. No harm in trying them out. If you're not happy, get them to take it off and refund your money, simple.

It was constantly going into soft limp mode, coughing and farting, hesitation & stuttering, very rough idle - it was a dog! Straight off, fingers were pointed at hardware - DV, MAF etc. etc.

Yes, components fail on cars, but it was only 4 months old at the time. It was rolling roaded the same morning that the software was put on, and the graph for the 3 runs were consistant, the outputs were what you'd expect to see for a new car, and showed no sign of any problems, errors or imminent failures.

It was a software problem. The generic code was built on one car, and unless your ECU has the same coding as the car the software was designed on you will get certain running issues.

This particular code obviously wasn't suited to my car, which is why I had it removed. I've been running the standard code since last summer and I've had no problems at all.

After quite a lengthly discussion with Bill (Badger5) yesterday about remaps, codes etc. he clearly knows what he's talking about.

I have decided that if I remap my car in the future, I will be getting Custom Code. Obviously Jabba & Star Performance also get good results & excellent praise, but they're a bit too far away for me.

Whose code did you have first time round?

I'd rather not name names or discuss it on an open forum...it was the subject of a lengthly & fairly heated 'debate' which I believe resulted in a couple of forum members being banned.

Let's just say I must have been one of the 'unlucky' ones... many people have had the same map by the same manufacturer and have had little or no problem with it.

I won't go into detail. But log onto www.briskoda.net .. And search for Celtic Tuning. You won't be overly impressed with there results. Infact, It could change your mind.
I'm not slating them, but as you said, has anyone heard of them.. Then I have.

Brand Junkie :p

I can see your point about going to the "tried and tested" big names, but they all started somewhere (the bottom) and it took them alot of hard work and good word of mouth to become a big name. If a lesser known company can perform a remap to the same standards and offer the same aftercare, then there is no reason not to try them and help them develop inot a big brand name.
Just my views and not a dig at anyone ;)
Dave
(p.s I have Custom code on mine and they are great!)

Fair enough, I'm just on the lookout for a map so had to ask!

So is your car remaped or has been remaped by them? If you have experience with them then please tell me more mate, if you rather mail me, then my addy is [email protected]

Many thanks!

Thanks mate, wow reading the thread got worse and worse, it has put me off uno. I would rather pay a little extra and go to someone reputable. Celtic tuning do sound too good, and don't get me wrong they probably do have a fantastic service etc..but id rather keep my car standard than risk buying a new turbo.

thanks anyway buddy appreciate it!

Quick question guys, anyone tried angel tuning? or superchip tuning? Angel tuning are simular to celtic in BHP gains and price etc.. Superchip are like the grandad of ecu modification but would like to hear more on them if anyone has their views

Cheers!

Depending where your from. Have a look at Impossible Performance in Rochester. £395 for a remap and bloody good curves...

Hello,

I would recommend the Custom-Code remap - after having the C-C remap on my car and a lot of my friends having the C-C map on theirs myself and them are overly impressed with software, especially how smooth the map is and how well it pulls top end!

If you would like any more information please feel free to give me a call on 01246 455005

Regards
Mike

Iv given them an email, just go back to me today. They say an increase to 265-285 depending on the mods i have. Whats the most likely figure? I.e do you have a remap by them? Whats the figures like?

Thanks
