I think it has increased reluctance to help early detonation , tuned engines run hotter etc. Bill will come in with the technical bit
As mentioned above, ive got a set of ngk iridium grade7 plugs in my glovebox, havent noticed any difference yet! haha.

I have had one (only one mind you) report from a customer that his IK22's did not last well when checked on a routine service. Not had an issue personally, nor any other such feedback, so maybe something else was amiss?

I run Denso Iridiums IK22 and i would say that i felt SOME improvement after changing from the standard ones.

Bill, I heard or read that iridium plugs arnt as long lasting as platinum etc plugs apparently so Im expecting to change them again (if i still have the cupra) in 20k.

i personally would change them as a matter of cause anyway before 20k.....theyre only £40 so it would only equate to around £20 per year.

yes but as good as a definition that is mate :p how can anyone prove that they can feel that difference/what does that difference even feel like?

???????.......try some?? the thing is, they're obviously more expensive because of the materials contained within the plug which would suggest to me that they are a better plug. Nothing will prove a drastic increase in performance without a fair bit of testing and they must be made for a purpose which has been tried and tested. On an ibiza theyre probably isnt a serious increase but on a 1000bhp skyline it will probably be a different matter?

i'm curious to what people define as an improvement over standard plugs?

After fitting mine my car felt smoother and a slightly better pick up;)

Standard plugs are matched to a standard engine so it makes sense to upgrade them if you upgrading other parts of the engine

26 quid for what plugs?

NGK iridium plugs, they are both the same price but i got the cooler plugs
BKR6EIX and BKR7EIX depending on temp grade. (on the reallymeansounds.com forum the guy is called discountbulbs, he does hids for 99 quid also if you cant get them locally.)

denso and ngk iridiums are on the same level, paying for a name isnt always the agenda for me (hence owing 3 SEATs) the ngks are supposed to have the same lifecycle as the densos so why pay extra. (i found my reciept btw, they were 24 quid BKR7EIX code which are indeed one grade colder.)
I was talking about the 6 and 7 coded plugs btw gav. iridium over platinum may be more reliable, but noone is going to make me pay extra for the same plug with a different name.

fair enough........

Im not saying that the ngk's arent as good as the denso's its just what i chose to buy. you've obviously done your homework on this subject so i stand corrected.
