Cupra remap dilema

This isnt just another which remap to get thread I am currently pulling my hair out as to which remap to get. My main concern is warranty. Revo is the current favoruite as I can switch it off whenever. However many ppl say its poor topend and I should go for jabba custom code or other custom maps. These cant be turned off like revo (custom code ith vagcom) and so could really jepodise the warranty and cost me thousands. I have had revo before on mt leon and was impressed and never had clucth slip. My car is a cupra tdi. What would you guys do.

custom code afaik have the smoothest torque map of all the maps listed there, and i do believe you just need a rosstech vagcom cable and the free software of the CC site to switch it off so will prob cost you less than an SPS although you probably already have one of them from the REVO'd leon . i don't think the cupra has clutch issues with just a remap anyway i thought the main prob was with the PD 130's cos the torque figure got dangerously close if not over the 300ft/lbs clutch limit mark which iirc the cupra already starts with so it has a stronger clutch no?(could be wrong about the standard cupra ft/lbs but too tired too check saaawrie)

The clutch on mine gets a bit twitchy when pulling hard in 5th and 6th and mines not re-mapped........YET

Soon figured it doesn't do it if you drive more progressively with the throttle.

As I understand it, the clutches are exactly the same on the FR and Cupra.

The Cupra doesn't actually generate a lot more torque than the FR (FR = 229 lb-ft; Cupra = 243 lb-ft) - presumably the Cupra's factory map is deliberately tuned to avoid excessive torque to help prevent clutch slip.

Edit: I've just realised where you've got your figure of over 300 for the Cupra torque. You're confusing your units. The Cupra generates 330 Nm of torque, which according to Google's conversion tool is about 243 lb-ft.

spoke to the seat garage about mine. they wanted me to get a revo but i told them its to much money for wat it is. the managers words to me was

remaping a car isnt warrenty voiding. cos its so common these days that people genuinly know what tehre doing. so its got to be proven that the remap is what buggered the car. so in all fairness u have nothing to worry about.

performance torque did mine 400nm torque and 188 bhp (weak remap to stop smoke as its company car) pulling 190 on a normal day and im using higher cetane fuel aswell now. keeps up with a gtech 1 chipped fiat coupe 20vt and most things now

Have you considered AMD? They are now owned by BBT but I am sure they can still provide the "Oneclick" remap. You get a dongle much like an SPS unit, it contains your standard map and modified map and you can switch between the two whenever you want. It's not a high output re-map so won't knacker your clutch either....

i say custom code. as its what i had on my ibiza 130tdi. which produced 185bhp and 301lb/ft of torque.

But if i were to do it again id choose a custom tuner like Upsolute [which muddy has i think] who can limit torque to 280lb/ft until higher up the revs...

With regards to warranties not being a problem, I think you'll find that is dependant on the Dealer/Seat relationship.

I only say this because when I was in Listers (Coventry) for my service I asked if they would honour the warranty with a remap and they said not any more, even though they offered me a remap when I bought the car new.

Think they have been having to many cars coming back knackered after being remapped.

who did you speak to at castlegate about the remap, i went in there the other day and spoke to the guy who came on the CUPRA test drive with me(not a salesman the bodywork guy i think ) but didn't mention it to Robert the guy i normally deal with there as i thought they would poo poo the idea of a remap
