In the attic!
Fitted a new head unit yesterday (LCR) after receiving my fascia adapter and Ariel booster. Now.....all was OK had it all plugged in including my i-pod adapter, left it all loose to test it and all was well!!!

Then...sorted out all wires nice and neat (loads of em) and slowly pushed stereo in! Locked in place, put surround on, turned it on and.............nothing?

Pulled it out and checked all fuses...fine? Then checked the main stereo fuse, also fine?? Was getting me pissed off now as i had to goto work[:@]

Had another look this morning, still no joy! Soooo plugged the original back in and on it came??? Very :censored: annoying! Until i noticed it was not turning off with the ignition! So i played with the program settings which says you can alter the "turn off with ignition" and it was already set to on???

Knowing this i plugged my stereo back in and by splicing the permanent live (red) togeter with the ignition wire (yellow) managed to get the HU on! But now its always on!! As it receives no signal from the ignition!!

So i'm guessing the ignition wire is damaged beyond what i can reach as it looks fine???

So i go for a drive and then notice something else!!! The auto unlock no longer works??? It locks the car at 5-10mph but when you take out your keys......nothing!! You have to unlock it yourself?

Don't have a Haynes manual yet so can't trace the fault to see if they are connected, but I'm thinking the ignition wire behind the HU might have something to do with it??

Everything else works fine?

Done loads of searching on here! Anyone ever had this before??

P.s also my radio reception is still crap? Where does the blue wire connect to? My HU does not have an antenna wire? What voltage is needed for the booster to work properly? Is it 12v? As thats what I've hooked it up to?

When i was a young cahoon, my first car was a leon s. (crap i know) I had sold my mk2 golf but kept the stereo, due to having to wiring loom in the gold cos someone had nabbed it, i had to wire it manually (colour by colour) and i had exactly the same thing, no auto unlock. Heres the bad part, i have no idea how to sort, just make sure you leave your stereo off!! I had it for about 2 years!!

2 years! :-o Not having any of that, i'm either going to find the break in the wire or run a new one, soon as i find my damn multi meter

Check all the fuses in the fusebox on the drivers side of the dash. I'll put my money on you shorting the ignition feed when you were trying to get the HU in and you've blown the ignition fuse. I can't remember which one it is, it's not the one marked Radio as that's for the +ve which must be working by the sound of it.

Also the HU should have an antenna wire, what HU is it?

Pete

Hi mate, its the Pioneer DEH 9600MP.

So you say there is another fuse? I'll have to have a look, i just scanned them quickly without taking them out and they looked fine? Will have another look, hope your right :)

Well if I'm right then you've got a split in the cable sheath somewhere behind the radio that you need to sort out before you put another fuse in as well.

The Pioneer will have an output to use for the antenna, have a look in the install instructions.

You were spot on mate!

Just need to sort my radio reception now :headhurt:

Does this look correct to you? I checked the online manual for my HU and the amp remote wire is used for the ariel but still sounds like shite

Even if i unplug this (green-ish) connector which goes to the ariel it does not effect anything? Its as though the ariel is not connected?? Does it need a specific voltage to work?

Do you/anyone know which wire feeds the amplified ariel on the ISO connector? Anyone got a Haynes manual?
