Im sorry if this has been done to death but i tried search with very little provail.
What im after is if anyone has fitted both forge quick shifts and if both are worth it.

I seem to remember a while back that a couple of people were suggesting the the sideways one was maybe not as usefull as the other

Any opinions would be usefull as im about to buy them today

from what i picked up the side to side didnt make any difference

well im thinking i can always buy it at a later date anyway.
That way i can see the individual benifits from each individual piece as well
 
well i've gone ahead and ordered the forward throw one first then i'll just see how it takes me from there.
Also ordered the bog bone mounting and some yellow stuff pads to tryout too so looks like i got a busy weekend ahead
 
shortening the side to side is not only not needed, but is potentially dangerous. (IMHO)
think about that next time you change gear when in a hurry....

Not sure about dangerous but while my LCR was at the dealers I got a MK2 Leon (SE?) for the day. It had a short throw both ways and felt an impresive box. Nice and smooth and for the first time driving it wasn't bad.

ok, well perhaps dangerous in the wrong hands...?
i can just see someone selecting a gear a couple lowere than expected unless the box is good enough to prevent this?

I cant really agree with it being dangerous as dont think it would be made if it was but i understand you point.
But at the end of the day its all down to the driver basic driving skill entail being able to ensure you've used the right gear and should run the risk of selection the wrong gear without geting used to the new throw first

Andy i dont think it matters what you do to your gearbox. it might take a few miles but you'll get used to it, even if it was all back to front.

im used to mine after about 100 miles.

oh i agree, im not saying the product is dangerous, its not, the car will only be doing what the driver does.
However there have been some incidents on here of the wrong gear being engaged on a standard box...

im just throwing the idea out as something to be considered.
But then i guess no mods would ever be done if you worry about everything.
 
I would go for both, I have a short shift in my elise (only shortents throw) and would love a side to side reduction, it would ballence it all back up again
 
i have bought a forge side quick shift but havent fitted it yet, for those who have 1 where did you set the adjustable bolt i.e the top, bottom? because i dont want to set mine up in the wrong place. cheers
