just a thought if u just gave over your keys, is it stil classed as a theft from insurance purposes? I could see them argueing that giving the keys is the same as consenting? whether under threat or not

I have a anti-hijack device fitted to my LC, worth every penny although I don't wish to post the make and model on an open forum for obvious reasons. It allows the car to travel nearly a mile before it starts to randomly miss-fire and eventually die.
You need to find an installer who is cabable of fitting it so it just activates of the drivers door otherwise it can be a pain every time someone gets in the car.

Heh, as a ex-South African (and a carjacking victim a few years ago), I can't believe this is happening in the UK now.
Interesting reading this thread, I had these security tips sent to me by E-Mail by my Home security company when I stayed back in South Africa:
Safety Tips when entering your vehicle and whilst driving:
1 Have your key ready, but not visible.
2 Inspect the outside and inside of the vehicle before unlocking.
3 Know your destination and directions to it, and be alert should you get lost.
4 Always drive with your windows and doors locked and/or closed.
5 Make a mental note of any Police Stations in the vicinity while driving.
6 When dropping a passenger off, make sure that they are safely in their own vehicles before departing.
7 Avoid driving through high crime or unfamiliar areas.
8 Avoid driving late at night at/or the early hours of the morning when the roads are quiet.
9 Drive in the centre lane away from pedestrians where possible.
10 If possible, never drive alone.
11 NEVER, EVER pick up hitchhikers.
12 Never follow routine routes when driving; change on a regular basis.
13 Do not leave windows open more than 5cm.

Have a look at the Maplin Website - Personal Tracker
Locate it on the car somewhere, call it from a phone it sends its gps location, look on Google Earth and it will show where the car is located. Just buy it, no subscription. £130 looks interesting!!

Looks good, but is compatible with police scanners so they can trace it! They cant be using google earth in they car! but does look worth it!
