Hi, ive recently had my 50k service and my dad told me i should have changed my timing belt at 40k, but my mate reckons they last 80-90k on the TDi's can any one shed any light on this? last thing i want is for my engine to blow up!
bridgend JP board, they are awesome and friendly in service, i used to get my minor services done for about £80 from there. last time i checked they lost the dealership, but they still have signs up for seat servicing and accessories so im not sure...
warrenty not a problem for me anymore as i is for the 60k and it runs out shortly anyway, im sure they could still stamp it with the proper seat stamp for your book for when you sell it on !
im getting my service done there for £150 and brake fluid change for £30 the same time... hopefully thats good prices to
£80, thats sooo cheap! Is that with the correct oil and filter for the cupra tdi?? According to seat ur only supposed to use the specific type of oil listed in the handbook cos the engine operates at such high oil pressures?!
Hmm. Ive done 57K (4 years old car) and was going to wait till the 60K service.
My dealer never mentioned bringing it in at 55K . I assume its the same for all TDi PD'S?
Sounds like big bucks time ...
I am not sure if they are the same, I emailed Seat my Reg number and they looked it up and advised that was their recomened service interval for that model (03 Ibiza 130Bhp TDi Sport)
It is a 200 - £300 job, mine was combined with my MOT but the price of the cambelt was small compared to having to have my front wishbone bushes replaced at the same time as they failed the MOT!!
Ok then to add to this post who's done the job at home? Not having done one before I'd like to know whether to even attempt it!
How bad a job is it? Do i need any special tooling? How much of the car do I need to take apart to do it? And do I need any special tooling to do it? And finally are there any Haynes manuals or similar to take me through it? Sorry about all the questions but if it saves me £400 it will be worth it!
Im in the same position. approaching 60k so could really do with this done. Wont be paying anyone to do it though! So anyone have a guide or anything up?
Not a job I'd take on at home.Spent 15 yrs in the trade with 6 @BMW.Done a couple of PD Cambelts.Need specialist locking tools for the engine and for adjusting the belt,I would never attempt it without these because of the potential damage to the engine. Also not a simple job without a 2 post ramp and engine support beam.
