Firstly i'd like to say a big thanks to Rob (longman) for taking time out this saturday morning to do some VAGCOM shenanigans for me.

here's my spec : 210 LCR with turbo back blueflame stainless system with sports cat, 4 bar FPR, revo stage 1. I have had two rolling road sessions, first gave a peak bhp figure of 234 and the second a month later produced 224, so i think i have issues...

the VAGCOM showed an intermittant fault on the N249 valve...

Here are the graphs made from the log runs done, all done in third.

bhp & torque :

boost :

any opinions and thoughts welcomed... could this be solely down to the N249??

Most people say t log in 4th (on the 6spd) as it increases the load. Means you need a longer road though :D

Shouldn't really run a 4bar fpr with Stage 1.

10 bhp is not a bad +/- for a RR, although it does look like you have an issue, I would say a boost leak.

Have you got the stock DV on? The N249 fault suggests a split in the VAC line, or the DV itself. Best get the soapy water out :D

Did he log 118?

here's the actual fault description from the VAGCOM :

17608 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Mechanical Malfunction … P1200 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

thanks feel...

i fogot to say I have a split-R... all the mods were done when i bought the car so i'm just getting round to sorting things out... have bought a modshack MAF housing to help out with the 4 bar FPR.. but that's for a different thread!!

i would have expected a higher figure than and average of 230 from stage 1?

what's 118 mean (excuse my ignorance!)?

and soapy water.. joy it'll remind me of those childhood times where i had to wash :(

It looks like your settings are way too high, do you know what your boost is set at? It's requesting 18psi at nearly 7000rpm!

Really need to log block 114 alongside 115 and also 020 to check timing.

as i say as far as i know from the dealer (who didn't have a clue) it's got a revo remap, i'm assuming it's only stage one... if the requested is that high would that mean someone has fcuk arsed around with the settings??

here's the logs... (sorry they don't read too well, they looked fine when i wrote the post!)

does that mean anything!?!

cheers for the replies guys

I would guess the settings are set too high yeah. You really need access to an SPS dongle/vag-com to set them more realistically.

Dom.

looks fairly normal... timing is conservative not much if any pull to speak of.
boost set slightly higher than it can achieve.. presume a std car otherwise

ok mate thanks, i've been following your thread too!! curves are very similar but mine is showing a fault code and yours isn't :(

but i'll try an ecu & throttle body reset and see what happens then!

I would try it, mine is flying again !

If I could would be intresting for me to get it on the Dyno now to see if it's anywhere near the 245-260 ish BHP it should be producing.

Good luck mate

I have a standard 210 LCR with no remaps and since adding BMC CDA, Forge turbo hoses and Eliminator DV it RR'd at 230 BHP and 225 Ft-lbs.
Your figures look more like a pre mapped cars figures
Did you get before map figures?

Phil, didn't log 118, I ran out of blocks. I did suggest a third and 4th run to look at some more info but as the N249 valve fault was up. I/We thought it best to get that sorted, then perhaps Porkie could come back.

The below is interesting to me too. Especially the comments on the MAP. I agree though, not seeing any correction factors on the timing is rare from a remap. I would have expected some 2s or 3s at 6k +.

I am interested to hear any comments, as I said on the day, I am still learning myself!!

PS... No problem Ian. Twas a pleasure to help!!

i got the car modded mate so i have nothing, other than the two RRs i've had done and the stuff i did with rob on saturday...

i think my plan is basically to put everything except the exhaust back to standard and then go see rob again and get some more logs done (if that's cool with you rob!) and then go from there. what i should have done at edition38 yesterday was get the revo guys to come over and sps my car to make sure there was a 'standard' stage 1 map on there...

keep the help coming guys, much appreciated!

There is a Revo dealer near Lakeside (Big Boys Toys) they are quite helpful. Might be worth giving them a call to see if they can have a look recognise whats on there and perhaps fiddle a bit.

Afterall, if it is revo, you so get a guarantee with it??

But yeah, no problem having another look at logs. We could try and find a longer bit of road and use 4th gear as Phil suggested. I agree with that, the more data we get from a longer pull, the better.

Might need a motorway slip for that though!!

good point.. that's where the previous owner got it done... i'm a ********!! i'll give them a bell and see if'll they'll just reset the map for me, at least then we can rule out anyone having played with stuff randomly...

cool, show me the slip road... as soon as i've got the new n249 and a 3bar FPR!

Surely the problem lies with the 4bar FPR? You'll be over fuelling like a mofo. Running rich, losing power springs to mind!

Why did you fit a 4bar FPR on a 3bar fuel map?

Also where did you get it rolling roaded? 224bhp is highly unlikely!
