nervous about getting a service elsewhere

I'm due a 10,000 mile service soon and the first time I'm thinking of moving away from the main dealer. I've been getting quotes from main dealers and local garages and the difference is around 80 quid at the moment.

Will this affect my warranty?

Is it dangerous to not go to the main dealer?

By the way I have a TDI FR 170.

Help please:confused:

Yep agreed with the previous posts. As long as the garage in question follows the maintenance schedule, uses approved VAG parts and is VAT Registered then you are all set to go and your warranty will be intact.

As stated it won't affect your warranty, but I always suspect you don't always get the same quality of service if you service it elsewhere - less helpful, less willing to assist with a claim, no loan car etc

i've found if you go independant they look after you better as they can't afford bad PR.
fair comment about the loan car though.

sorry my bad - I meant you don't get the same quality of service from the dealer when you want them to look at warranty issues etc

I've just had my 10K done at the local independant (Awesome) and I think they treat my car well and look after it.
Oh and I saved approx £80 over the dealers quote.

I used to take my MK4 Golf there and never had any issues with the local VW dealer concerning warranty claims.

Sounds Great.

Out of interest guys - how much did the non dealer garage charge for the 10k service?

Just phoned my local dealer (premier stoke) Service costs are (new leon TDI)

10,000 (1yr) £181.73
20,000 (2yrs) £221.87 (3rd year being the same as first)
40,000 (4yrs) £285.83
Brake fluid at 2 yrs £44.00

Therefore 3 yrs service inc brake fluid is £629.33 , Or this is what you would save with the 3 yr free service deal on solutions finance on offer at the moment.
I have a 10% discount card off the above....

On my current Leon I took out a service contract for 3 yrs (30000 miles) cost around £11 per month from what I remember, has anyone else looked into this? got any quotes? My new fr isn`t built till next week so I am doing some sums:headhurt:

Hi
As said

Yes as long as the garage is VAT registered it will not matter
You dont even NEED to use OEM parts as long as they are of equivilant quality
Stick to service schedual you are OK

We get to see many older cars with FULL dealer service schedual and the best is , not many of them have had a brake fluid replacement and on 4X4`s no Haldex service

It is nice to get a mention there
Yes we do services
I used to do warranty claims , service manager and parts manager at a Skoda dealer for 5 and a half years
So your OK with us and many more independants

As has been said
It is 6 months tax!!!!

So does this mean you are getting 3 yrs servicing for £396 instead of £629.33????

Had mine serviced last week at Bickets 10k service £145 (including 10% discount). If your particular about the look of your car don't let them wash it as is included mine looked like it had a bucket of dirty water thrown over it and left to dry,all covered in dirty spots couldn't wait to get it home and wash and dry it myself !

^^ Im very paranoid about letting others wash it, I keep imagining some fat guy using a hard brush who doesnt give a ****! I asked them to skip it last time it was in for warranty work, but they still did it.. grr!!!

Also, booked my 10k service today £128 at a VW dealer, its 2min from my work, wheras the seat one is about 45min.. Seat were looking £150+.. they can shove it up their arse!
