LCR front grille dilemma

I've got a hole in the front grille of my LCR, looks like this
beforegrille.jpg

instead of going through all the fuss of taking the front bumper off and trying to get the honeycomb grille off i though about sticking an R badge there like this
aftergrille.jpg

(only stuck with blu tack to see what it looks like)

i can't afford a new grille but i think it looks ok with the badge there anyway, opinions please?

is it a hard job to replace just the honeycomb part and can you just get that part or is it a whole bumper job?

Its obvious cars get damaged........I know its an eye sore but you dont need to hide the hole..............save a few quid and buy the honeycombe section. look on the internet coz seat would cost a fortune (like the mrs)

i had a bird go through mine and the centre section honey comb is about 20-30 quid from a dealer.
i've not got round to fitting it yet though.

let me know how you went on fitting it PlatinumR, i'm scared of breaking something!

I had a bird go through my grille....only thing left was her shoes and panties. ha ha

Its a bumper off job to swap that grille but you are okay as clips intact as just a hole.
The bird pushed my grille in which was a pain.
Tell you the truth could do a new bumper respray and fix grille at sametime maybe.

doesn't need a respray, just all the dead bugs that look like chips!

Just has exactly that job done at the dealer after some pr!ck stuck their foot through mine.

The part iself is only about £30 but if you get them to fit it they will charge you an hours labour as it is a full bumper off job.

Getting the bumper off I found easy, getting it back on, lined up and all the clips in place (particularly round the arch's with the liner etc) was a PITA.

It's a DIY job but very fiddly.

Would be easier with two people, one to hold the bumper, one to line up the holes etc and do the bolts and screws

i had a look at a few guides to removing the bumper and i'm not sure if i need to take the lights out as well as a few other little niggles, i might get the grille and trust a mechanic mate to have a go

sorry to bring up an old thread but i've got the replacement lower grille, now i need to know how to replace it?
is it a full bumper off job or can i get away with crawling underneath + how is it fixed on, will i need something like silicone to attach the new one?

this is a bumper off job to do it properly.

the headlights do not need to come off as per your previous question.
(actually its bumper off to take of the headlights)

im pretty sure its attached with silicon or a heat joint.
so yes you will need something to attach it with.

Have paid that much attention to it when had my bumper off but
isn't it bonded on.
I dont know the technical term but basically its been put in place then the clips melted to make it perminent isn't it.
