Hey guys an gals if there is some.

I wonder if you can help. Just purchsed a 54 plate Ibiza Cupra 2 weeks ago and can i say wow! Amazingly quick and road holding is immense.

But i have a slight worry about the gearbox. Through first and second gear, i seem to b able to hear the gear engage, like a slight thud when going into the first, also does it in second but not through rest of them.

The missus raised up the fact that these are quite powerful cars so the gearbox has to b substantial to the engine, so it maybe just something that it does to compensate for the power.

Also i can hear it change from first to second wen i have the window down and im just driving normally ( when this is possible cos my curiosity of quick the car goes always get the better of me ).

It cud b just me been extremely touchy and sensitive about the car

Anyone had this before? any thoughts? looking forward to speaking to u all as im new around here and new to the SEAT's. And i hear they are now german. Even better.

Yeah, my FR used to do that from new. Dont worry and enjoy the new car!

First second and third always used to be clunky for me. Its just not the most "precise" gearbox.

Hope this helps,

yea, thanks buddy. eases the worry. im amazed with this little motor. cos ppl cum up the side of u and expect to beat u in their 1.6 saxos or 1.2 corsa's and u just waste em!

And the braking.....wow u stop just as quick as settin off!!

It's an interesting one with the Ibiza's, as these cars are not as common on the roads as your 'run of the mill' Vauxhalls, Citroen or Ford etc... therefore people are curious over these hot hatches, hence getting other drivers trying to race! That's one of the + points of these cars, they are unique, and you dont see another one that frequently.

my 55 plate cupra does this, only really noticed the 'clunking' engaging 1st or reverse though. still quite reassuring to know its not just me noticing it.

as far as im aware the 20v 1.8t is only in the cupra and fr for the mk4. so if im right id guess that guy's got himself a very powerful badge!

LOL!! true, i did waste it ont dual carriageway.

Well im gunna be keeping it for a long time so ull b seein me all on ere for a whil;e. Do any of u have clubs were u all meet up? We also have an original mini which we used to go meet other ppl with mini's an go out on runs int cars. owt like this happen?
