I need to find out the settings for the main bolts which hold the casings together on the TDI gearbox - 6 speed. My peloquin is currently sat inside devonmikeyboy's old gearbox - and is apparently working/turning VERY well. :D

Just need to rebuild the box now and the garage doesn't know the torque settings. being ally bolts, we can't overtighten them as they'll just snap.

If anyone knows, please pass on the divine knowledge. :funk:

looking into bellhousing top 2-M12x55=80Nm @1oclock and 3 o'clock M12x165=80Nm @4o'clock-M12x105=80Nm @nearly 6o'clockand 7M10x50=40Nm @8o'clock M10x70=40Nm NB clean lightly oiled phosphated or black finished tolerance +/- 15% enjoy!!

Hmm, from what I could tell from a "file" I had forgotten I'd got, the bolts for attaching the casings together were 15Nm + 1/4 turn. All the other bolts in the pic seemed to be for other bits. Well, the box is now together again anyway. Just need to put aside 2 days or so for fitting. I have new cupra bushes to be fitted at the same time, along with a new lower gearbox mount, and front brake pads.

That poor gearbox ... it has NO idea what it's about to be subjected to ;):D:D

Well, it was subject to 10,000 miles of Mikeyboy's driving, then subjected to a bit of an inversion. :cartman:

It won't mind what I'm throwing at it. My current box has been rock solid really - which has been impressive. I expect this new box will be a bit like a "renewal" for me. Current box is 55k, "new" one is much newer, but also has a new diff.

I did mean the torque, rather than driving style :);):)

What extra mods have you done to bring the car up to 260bhp from the 220-ish, Jason? That's BIG power ...

That gearbox came from my old Seat Ibiza PD Cupra that was running 260ish bhp back in 2005 so it`s used to the torque Jason has got and since the car had only just had it`s 10,000 mile service a few days before i dented a few panels it should be in very good condition.

sorry I gave you the box/bellhousing to block fig's,:redface:but that's why I put the bolt sizes in to double check:ban:

:D The box was in a very shiney state when I got it from Richard - squeaky clean. :D And when it was opened up the internals were in perfect nick. So I have no qualms about this box being attached to a very fast PD160 cupra in a prior life. :)

Although the way that offside driveshaft was bent, eh Mike? ;) Good job I've renewed the diff. :D
