Hi!

I did a search but I'm not definitely sure about this.
I have a 2004 Ibiza Sport, 5 doors, 1.4 petrol with 100hp (74kw), ESP, all disc brakes.
I bought it with 205/45 R16 alloys as standard.
I now have to buy some winter tires and I would go for the cheap 14" ones but I'm not sure they would fit and I need some clarification.

Will there be enough space between the inside of the steel rim and the front brake caliper?

Thank you!

Welcome to the site! You've got the same size wheels as me....atm. :) I know you can get budget tyres for around 45 notes. It'd be cheaper than buying rims and tyres! Wouldn't last as long as the better quality tyres obviously...

Actualy the thing is that I have an offer for a set of barely used rims+tyres which are 185/60 R14 so I would like to get them if they fit. However they are a bit far away from where I live (Hungary btw :)) so I can't realy try them on to check

Not sure if they'll fit my friend... I know 16'' wheels go over 312mm brakes, guessing the minimum will be 15''?

I wouldn't risk it but if they are cheap...

Hi sl1ck,
Welcome to the site. You seem to have my car[B)]. Yet our importer here cheaped out & gave us 15"s 16"s were reserved for the 1.9TDI 130hp Sport. My 15"s are 195/55/VR15...
You can use one of these[http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html] or [http://www.alloywheels.com/TyreCalc.asp] tire calculators to see all alternative size combonations. As well you may find this site {http://www.tyretest.com/index.html} usefull to get opions on tires before buying them.

FYI:
I made the deal, they fit nicely.

Thank you for the replies :D

my 1.2 ibiza with drums runs 14inch steel wheels as standard but i think that the SX which has disc brakes at the rear has 15 inch wheels so i would stick to 15s...

I'm sure the 1.2s run the same brakes as the 1.4 16v (FSIII caliper), I had the same model once upon a time.

Edit - yep, just checked www.vagcat.com and in 2002/3 there were only 2 disc sizes - 256mm and 288mm (PD130 Sport only). 14" 1.2 steel wheels will go on if your caliper has FSIII stamped on it.
