It seems that this is a better option than waiting around for the UDM or going for a 110V PC.

My question is whats the best kit (pads, compounds, etc) to go for? Where from (any good deals basically)? Or the best extras to get?

Think it's time to buy me a Christmas present!

I think the term "same ****, different day" applies to the megs & udm machines


Materials wise, dont mess about, go for the Menzerna sample kit to get you started http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polis...50ml/menzerna-250ml-sampler-kit/prod_220.html the other stuff out there wont touch VAG paint without a lot of effort.

Pad wise, the LAKE 6" Pads are very good, get one of each http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing/lake-country-ccs-pads/cat_45.html

well i use a slightly modified random orbit sander outta b&q that cost 40 quid and i have used a porter cable and a umd and the sander does as good a job. dont see the point in wasting 150 on what is basically the same thing.

Yea they are essentially all the same thing. Thing is that you dont have to go through the hassle of importing one over to do the job.
