Ok fine::blink:, is it widely known that all the hids kits fit the Leon? i would have thought that if you want hids that you would look for the ones for the Leon, i would, so if i was looking and saw a set specifically aimed at a BMW would it fit the Leon?, all i am saying is cut us some slack we are not all as informed as yourselves, if i was looking for any aftermarket items and wanted an opinion i would ask fellow Leon owners first, as it is not a general question it is Leon specific.:)

They aren't made for specific cars, they are made for different fitments.
So long as the BMW had a H7 bulb, then it would work with the Leon.
My point isn't about what the car is for, but what info you could get from a whole forum with the same thought in mind, instead of a small section of the forum.
No good having a go at me for trying to advise someone on the best way to acheive the most answers to a question is there?
;)

I've not seen any HID kits where cutting or soldering of wires is needed.
They are all just plug and play, so for the money they are all excellent bits of kit.
As for the build quality, i can't comment, but the ballasts are normally metal sealed units, and the rest of the kit is just wiring, connections and bulbs. Can't see how they could be poor, but i've not seen them so could be wrong ;)

wiring that easily comes out of the connectors, ie not held in by anything specific.

Is this the connector to the bulb or the power supply to the bulb?
As far as i know, the bulbs have a clip type connection so they should stay in place easily, but the part that connects to the original power supply (black connection) should plug in, but may need some tape to hold it place if the fitment is loose.

when i first installed mine, one worked fine the other didnt light up. Had a closer look at the units, and the wiring from ballasts into the connectors was loose, and actually separated when touched. Bit of the well known gaffer tape in the right place, and all works well.

Suppose it was a cheap and easy fix, but a pain none the less.

Empi5, I'm very tempted to go for a set of the £50 ebay jobs but your comments on quality and the lose wire do kinda put me off - could you let me have a little more detail please matey?

I also know from my Corrado days that some give a better beam pattern than others - but this may be down to the Corrado having textured lenses rather having the beam pattern in the reflector like the Leon... has anyone found some of the available kits to be better than others on the Leon?

Mate they come from Hong Kong, enough said. Someone getting paid two beans and a button an hour, build quality is never going to be a selling point. Loads of people have bought them, and not one person has said these dont work ! maybe a bit of fiddling around with tape but ultimatley they still work. There was a big thread on these not so long ago and we all provided input. Have a search .....

Heres one of them, from the same shop

The only comment needed about beam pattern is make sure they are aligned properly after fitting. If they aren't then you will be flashed constantly, and draw attention from the plod!

i bought 6000k HIDs from ebay, i paid £63 buy it now for them. They arrived next day, the instructions were translated into english, so the grammar wasnt brilliant, but its so easy to do anyway, and compared to normal bulbs, HID are so much better, so for the £63 i spent, I'm so pleased with mine.

In my opinion, if you can get HID kits from ebay for £50+, there is no need to go anywhere else.

Very happy with mine

8000k and above are very blue danny
light isnt as good
6000k is the best for light.

i had mine aligned as part of my MOT, apparently they were too low!!!!!! So now i dont just blind badgers, but people too-----legally

Cheers for the info and link fella - off to buy a set now [B)]

i think its a happy medium. 4300k is very white- and 8000k (i think thats the next 1) is too blue, obviously u cant go round with totally blue lights so 6000k is the best to go for.

I got mine from Ebay seller bsbs888 they are based in Aberdeen, the delivery is very quick and they only costed £57 a set.

I've got 6000k bulbs, but have ordered a set of 4300k to replace them as i feel they could be brighter, and the 6400k is appearing more and more on corsa's and the like, and i don't want to be associated with that mob

Exactly what I thought, especially as there is still that grey area regarding their legality. If I'd spent £200 and then be told I had to remove them I'd be really pissed, but £40 I can live with!
