relay click

OK I have noticed another thing recently........very shortly after the 3-minute-clicks, there is another click and my headlights dim for a couple of seconds, then it clicks again and they go back to normal I noticed this today as I was coming to a stop behind another car in a line of traffic

I don't have wipers on and only have climate control on econ and lowest fan setting.

Maybe the fan in the engine bay kicking in while you were stationary to keep the temp down?

But its only when ive been driving for a few mins so the engine is still getting up to temperature. I noticed it again this morning...I'll have to have a look inside the engine bay when I start it later

Yea, probably nothing to worry about...I get an electric-type sound when opening the driver's door when I first get into the car too. You've got to love Seats and all the weird sounds you get lol

Thats the fuel pump priming. Also the ibiza seems to have very noisey relays.... turn you music off and listen to the relay for the intermittent wipers OMG....

The 3 min relay noise could be for anything, eg... secondary air pump, automatic choke, brake servo, air con.... millions of possibilities.

I used to get a fuel pump priming noise on my TDI when you turn the ignition key but this is only when you open the driver's door. Im just curious as to what it is..not worried or anything.

I'm sure I've read on here it the fuel pump when you open the door.

I think the petrols prime when you open the door, and the TDIs do it when you turn the key.
