They were wrong about the bhp figures. It actually produced 259 bhp from a std k03. It was running very high boost. They also got the tyres wrong. I run Toyo r888 not Yoko's.

Its K04'd now and running silly boost again!

259bhp from a k03?

friend has a k03s ibiza and his has never hit that high (stg 3, DP, exhaust, fmic etc etc) and never seen that sort of boost from a k03....thats not possible right?

if so I would think that the figure of 259 peaks very quickly and dies off quickly as well, as the k03 simply cant hold that power of physically flow that amount of air

or is this dyno lottery?;)

I cant get my head round how a k03 can flow that amount of bhp no matter what bolts are either side of it.

also with that kind of boost or magic 259bhp figure, the turbo is going to detonate as the k03 is small and could not sustain that sort of abuse

when you changed it, did you look over it? what was the condition of it like?

It was always a quick car with the K03 on. Yes the peak power was like the peak of everest and tailed off fast, but it still held good power after that.

I had a forge actuator with a blue spring and a race N75. The peak boost was between 1.8 and 2.0 bar depending on the gear. It held 1.5 all the way to 6k where it dropped to 1.2.

I know it sounds impossible to get that power, but it did.

The turbo was fine when i changed it. Well the bearings were fine, but it was cracked by the wastegate, but then most ones we take off are!

1.5bar to 6K ???
never seen a K03 do that - ever.

amazed

I have a dyno of MrsB Lupo K03s do >250bhp, but I dont believe it for a minute.. (not those high boost levels mind!!)

Freaky turbo..

Pro Alloy make them, although i dont think they will sell them direct - i only know of one place that sell them - but i'll let TTS choose wether they want another Tuners name advertised on there section!

ive been in this car many atimes when it was k03 and believe me it was a quick k03 car. i never did believe him it was a k03 but ive seen it and it was! it seems to be a fast engine overall tbh

HoocH

I dont really know the history of the car. Previous owner didnt even realise it was mapped! Stunned me too!

How you squeezing more boost out of it alex, crazy mapping or boost controller?

Just run a forge actuator. Holds boost better. My map also requests high boost. Just make sure the fueling and timing are adjusted to suit. With the high boost it does produce more heat. Turbos are cheap for us and we always have spare used k04's so i dont mind if i destroy one.

Where did you get the intercooler from and what did you pay for it?

I got the intercooler through Jabba from ProAlloy. Unfortunatly Jabba produced the cooler with ProAlloy so they can only be bought through them. Shame you need to spend a load of time making the cooler and pipework fit properly.

Its been a long time since an update and quite alot has happened since last time.

The car is now K04'd. Im using a std K04 and manifold (for now) with a decat downpipe and polished TT charge pipe. The only bit that need a slight bit of fabriction was the oil return line.

I just cut the braided section off the K04 line and the bottom section off the K03 line, then tig welded a small section of pipe between the two and it fitted perfectly.

I hit a small problem a few weeks ago. A diff bolt sheared and made a nice hole in the clutch housing. It was only when i smelt gearbox oil on the way home that i knew something was up. I left a oil snail trail for about a mile.

Luckely the clutch didnt have a drop of oil on it! It was also lucky that the sheared bolt didnt get stuck in the final drive and all was fine.

I got a new set of bolts from Peloquins and a used casing that MikeIbizaCupra had lying in his garage and it is all back together in the car.

Due to the catch tank taking up the room where the washer bottle was i relocated it to the boot. Plastic golf one for now till i get an alloy one made.

Also picked up a Seat Sport baffled sump that will go on when the oil needs changing. About a month away. The braided line is for the catch tank to sump oil return.
