Right, put the car in for a service today (should've done it myself looking back, but work is a bit hectic at the minute) and was told 'any problems, we'll give you a ring.'

...so... end of work comes along, phone up, and the guy says 'oh, everything is fine... apart from 1 thing.'

Should've guessed.

Apparently the airbag light now comes on. Now I know, definitely, that it wasn't on before, infact I've never had a warning light come on when it shouldn't. But, maybe there is a reason why... Basically my full beam hold contact/switch (lever, contact, whatever!) stopped working, so I bought a new lever, and I thought I'd get them to do that whilst it was in for the service. According to the guy I got it from, it's from a '01 (Mk3) Ibiza, but as far as I can tell, it's exactly the same as the one on mine.

Have I completely screwed this up, as the levers are actually different, and get the old one put back before I pick it up, or has the garage simply screwed it up, as obviously they've been playing around with the airbag? Needless to say, they still have the car, pick it up at 9am. Someone please tell me the levers are the same!!

...think I'll do all the work on the car myself in the future!

EDIT: Off Topic...

Just thought... When I gave him the keys, I said that I had a set of brake pads in the car, that I'd like him to fit... his response? 'If you go to a fish and chip shop, do you give them the fish?' What an arse!

Won't be going there again once I get my baby back tomorrow!

Did he honestly say that to you??

The garage i use, i have to phone and book the car in, but if i say to them on the phone that ive got something that needs fitted and bought myself, they have no problems with it. I usually get on the phone 'Yes that isnt a problem, we can do that for you'.

You just need vagcom to clear the fault on the airbag system, its just because the airbags been removed and reconnected its detected it. Or possibly the airbag hasnt been reconnected properly. Either way don't touch it with out giving the electrical system a good 30 mins to discharge after unplugging the battery

Cheeky bastid, I tend to do most stuff myself but if I do take it to a garage I always buy my own stuff make sure cheap parts aren't used!!

they get the hump as they don't make a tiny profit on the parts, I had a place get the hump once all I asked is could he get me these exact parts, non-patent, he replied no, end of conversation.
