This is out of date information. SEAT (and Skoda and presumably VW), are now recommending that the timing belt is changed at 40k or 4 years, (which ever is the sooner), for all models with the VW Golf derived engine.
I learned this from a (Skoda)
dealer when I bought my car (50k 02 plate Leon Cupra) from them. He wasn't getting any money out of me for doing it as he only remembered the (then new - late 2006) recomendation when I asked if the belt had been changed and so said he would include it as part of the deal.
