Central Locking failed!

Central locking works fine on car but not remotely. have changed battery in flip key fob.

Shall and can I just buy the remote part of the flip key? Programming to car required.

any other ideas?
would vag com show anything?
what fun... can lock car from inside and then shut door but getting in means climbing through boot. Might take to dealer for ideas on sat.

Try resyncing the key. It might have taken a knock?
If the car locks fine from the inside, this suggests that all electrics are fine and fuses must be good, so my first concern would be the key forgetting its code.
Others might have more ideas.
As for the locking barrel problem, see if anyone in the area has one you can borrow for 5 mins? so long as they let you use the key too you can give it back once its synced and carry on as normal. In theory anyaway.

I will try searching for info on resyncing the key... coz I don't have a clue

The thing is can I do something similar to resync without a drivers door lock??

Re Sync (1)

1 - get both keys - the one with the remote (A) and the normal key (B)

2 - note this must be done within 30 seconds as the synchro process cuts
off after that (all will be revealed)

3 - make sure the car is unlocked and the window open before you start

4 - use key (B) to switch on the ignition (lights on dash NOT startup)

5 - use key (A) to lock the drivers door manually (ie key in the door lock)
or NS if you have the 2002 on model with only one door lock

6 - now UNLOCK then LOCK the drivers door WHILST HOLDING the unlock button
on the remote

7 - once done take key (B) out of the ignition – sorted


Re Sync option (2)

Use original key to turn ignition on
Using a second key, lock the door

HOLD DOWN lock button on new remote until horn sounds

Wait 6 seconds, then press again. My alarm went off at this point.

Open door (might have to use the second key, rather than remote)

Turn off ignition, close door and try new remote.

Hi Thanks for your help guys... all sorted.

Sicup Seat (WJ King) kindly reprogrammed key for me for free!!
I changed the battery first too of course.
