I've always thought the VF34 will only be able to flow enough to make 350/360bhp is that correct?

Would a 1.9 20vt make 400bhp with a VF34?

I thought so too until i saw this

rollingroad.jpg

forged 20vt overbore pistons to make it a 1.9

VF34 @ 1.3 bar

nope.
fictional

they cant flow that much let alone @ 1.3bar on 1900cc

I ran mine @ 1.8bar and was 360bhp max'd on 1900cc

Cheers for clearing that up mate :)

You might of seen the car i dont know?

It was knocking around in 2006/7 and was in a matt black renault clio that was stripped out

I was thinking about using the IHI VF34 for my 1.8T conversion, 360BHP is probably enough to be honest - but are there any similar turbos that give low spool like the VF34 is reported to, but bigger power top end?

I saw JBS' hybrid GT/IHI advertised elsewhere and was wondering if anyone had any experience of it?

At the end of the day, I don't want to sacrifice driveability and ultimately reliability for a few more extra BHP, so is the VF34 a good compromise?

did you now?remember our little discussion when i posted i was running 1.8bar on my ihi;)

yes.. 1.6bar on my VF34/P20, 1.8Bar on PE1820 at some point
and the bearings fail Steve - Wilko,Danish have a nice collection of dead ones.. go fgure
and your point :p

depends on what it actually is..
GT/IHI or GT/IHI/TD06 etc etc

I have run both... aka FP Green.. 49lb GT comp wheel, TD06 turbine, in IHI pattern housing. (7cm and latterly 8cm on FP red)

power was 450+ @ 2bar boost

and your point :p
lol, you replied in your earlier post to the thread about vf34's and i quote"I ran mine @ 1.8bar and was 360bhp max'd on 1900cc". i took it from that you weren't on about the pe turbo as that flowed 415bhp?that was my point

I had seen my VF34 to >30psi, but its well catalogued that they do suffer bearing failures, and the thread is asking if a VF34 will do 400bhp........

you know the answer to that too ;)

yay.. progress m8.. we must be getting old.. :D

as being pm'd to me by poster the graph figures dont add up either. wheelspeed for instance

Cheers for your help via pms bill

Guess some people after being given a piece of paper from a rr believe whatevers on it

Obviously being told you have big figures = one very happy customer :)

he must have been chuffed to bits telling all his m8's down the pub.
:) :)

joking aside, as a car it went like stink when I saw it go up the 1/4 at GTi International
