Ripped Off or was I ? - Leon Screen wash

Stopped off on the way home tonight to pick up some VAG screen wash from a dealer for my new Leon FR.

A 1 litre bottle cost £4.69 inc of VAT, this cant be right or can it?

I guess it’s just the standard VAG screen wash they didn’t offer me different types. I asked if I could dilute it but they said no.

It says up to -70c which seems a little excessive and has a G 052 164 M2 written on it.

The VAG stuff that I bought is 1 litre, to -70c, but my code is A2 instead of M2.

£1.96 + VAT

Oh, and you can add up to 4 litres of water to it for summer conditions (peel back the label on the front from the bottom right hand corner for instructions).

Buy a 5 litre bottle from halfrauds for £1.99.

ahhhh but your only supposed to use vw spec screenwash or you may block the fan style washer jets.

My 02 reg citroen xsara had the same style washer jets and halfrauds screenwash never did it any harm.

two words come to mind here;

I use Halfords (or even Asda !!)screen wash, and have done for 3 years without any probs so far.

My woman has used Halfords ready-mix in her Polo (same washer jets) since new with no problems.

They've well and truly pulled your pants down. BUT having said that, anyone that walks in and buys the dealers screen wash probably needs to learn the hard way (no offence to you all) but screen wash is screen wash, its just fancy water. When you take your car for a service I doubt even seat use VAG screen wash.

I was being sarcastic - I just use a regular methanol based screenwash

I use whatever screenwash I buy. I buy it when I need it where it is available - most of the time it is Carplan or Costco's stuff costing a fiver for a gallon or similar. Maybe the screenwash is what has caused my electric folding mirrors to malfunction

i use Holts screen wash, and my washer jets have become blocked on the passanger side, dont know if its crap or what . . .

I just use whatever is on special down my local motorfactor or halfords if the MFactor is not open.
