Hey all, just got a stock (stage1) revo map on my leon cupra (AUQ code) and wondered if anyone had any suggestions on how to get the most from it? its currently running 7 boost and 5 timing. i'm planning on re-fitting my de-cat and re-fitting my forge recirc valve. i have an induction kit but removed it as it was too oily and killed the mass/airflow meter so if anyone has any suggestions on a good induction kit i'd appreciate also.

finally i've been offered a front mount intercooler kit. will i see any benifits from this or is it just going to look good?/?

cheers all.

1) If the FMIC is a decent price then take it. The OE IC's on the SEAT's leave a bit to be desired, particularly on long runs. If it's a Forge one then get it. Any others then maybe treat with caution. Check the cores to make sure all is well.

2) Revo settings should be fine, but with FMIC you should be able to nugde the boost up to 9.

3) I ran a Green Dynatwist on my LCR and it worked a treat. No issues with MAF's, but I always oiled lightly after cleaning.

yeah they were worried about heat soak if i ran above 7boost. the cooler is good and almost new. will pressure test it at work to be safe anyways. might wrap the zorst too to lower under bonnet temps. seen a inlet gasket that is meant to lower inlet temps, not sure how clever that's be or even if it'd make a difference?? is there much to be gained in an after market intake pipe? the std ones are apparently prone to collapse.

be careful wrapping the exhaust as I'm not sure if it will have any ill effect on the turbo. I always did it to my N/A cars, but have been warned to avoid getting lagging near turbo.

There is quite a lot of restriction in the OE piping. TBH some have found its better to smooth the airbox internals, cut a hole in the front or side of it and lead a 100mm flex hose round the front of the the battery and into front grille or down into inner nearside wing (if you're brave and don't mind the risk of water). Bends in the pipe disrupt the airflow and I don't know whether that is likely to be good or bad for the throughput of air into the intake system.

Phlenoic (?) heat asborption gaskets for the inlet manifold are good, but as long as you can get a good clean seating on the manifold with no leaks. I'd do this if you knew the OE needed replacing. Otherwise I'd wait and do the dogbone mount, DV, strut brace, ARB etc...

all fair comments. so intercooler sort airflow and i'll be winning the battle. will get 4 bar regulator and get the map upto stage 2 after that point. then play with suspension etc from there. want new arb's and some reasonable coilys. think i'll fit some 4 pots than and i think i'll be ahppy at that for a while at least :)

i ran that engine in my toledo 1.8t, had a full turbo back milltek, carbonio intake and forge fmic with revo stage 2 software, got 230bhp and 250lbft :)

about £400 i think, its a larger bore than the standard downpipe, dont know how you could 'mod' yours to the same???

i could prob work it out, done any a conversion etc on mk1 golfs etc. though if you have any tips feel free to throw them in :p still hunting a reasonable priced intercooler at present, prob is i can only find one manufacturer that makes one with the inlet/outlet on the same side (forge) and i dont want to route tonnes of pipes around my bay to make a cheap one fit! if i can get a manifold etc off a 225 i'll prob give that a go... if not i'll have to bit the bullit or go custom. on the positive i just became the proud owner of revo plus switch today woo

im not doubting your skills, but the most restrictive part of the downpipe (bore aside) is the cat, i dont know what you could do with that???

edit: unless you plan to run without cat?

;) already have one... removed due to mot. sounds awesome with it fitted. seems to make some difference too when combined with induction kit! (a less oiled one than i currently have!)
