My turbo let go on Saturday night!
As it does it filled my engine with 2.5 liters of oil.
Anyway the point I am going to make is dont have your car mapped to close to 200 hp/ 320lbft on a standard turbo if your mileage is 100k+, it wont last long!
I know there are lots of threads that contain bits of advice about mapping standard turbos to the limit, just thought this would serve as a good point for anybody relatively new to the forum/ diesels and mapping.
Any way dont think there is any damage other than the turbine shaft(compressor side) having snapped in half!
Decided on a hybrid unit from turbo technics £560 inc vat and delivery exchange. Also having a sachs uprated clutch fitted as now I know why my clutch never slipped after the map, tired turbo!

Couldnt agree more. My turbo with over 200hp like yours was giving up the ghost and my car is on around 70k miles.

Personally 200hp+ on any turbo, new or old is asking for trouble (I asked ;) )

Glad to hear no other damage done. However will TD do a exchange on the knackered turbo!?

They sure will and I have bought a hybrid which uses the compressor wheel and housing from a 2.5 tdi at £569 inc vat delivered.
For the record the compressor wheel has sheared off the shaft. Very nasty!
Turbo techs are fully aware of whats happened to mine and are fine with it.

so wat bhp can you remap a standard turbo to if u dont mind me asken? iam new to this?

Agreed with the above, ive had over 200hp from a standard turbo on the ibiza and BANG!

i had my standard 130 leon mapped with no other mos to 176 so it does vary on tuner

As has been said time and time again - peak figures mean little in reality.

Could have a PD130 hitting 180bhp and 300lb ft but the maps probably going to be harsh, spikey, smokey, not a great drive.

Where as a map to 165/170bhp and around 280-290lb ft will be lightyears ahead in terms of driveability and reliability.

my power cxomes at 4k which for a 130 is pretty good an i got 194bhp!! as for driveability its very good drive good for motorway driving with the torgue and i regularly do 60plus mpg to work
epens what you want i guess

Power comes at 4k?
You have the narrowest powerband I have ever heard of!

Safe to map at that mileage.
Remember to keep it mild though.

not everybody will get what happened to you if they get a aggressive map, depends on car and condition of the turbo, so getting an aggressive map can still be within the limits, i had a jabba remap on my previous 110tdi and it got mapped to 147bhp and 285ftlb, believe or not i got graph to prove and my turbo was fine for the 20,000 miles i had the map on until the car got written off and the turbo was still fine.
So depends

jonjay max power is just over 4k and mine is the smaller turbo remember!!!i think 194bhp at 4k is good for a 130 unit and at 4.5k 180bhp i cant say as thats bad

Well ok I am not into arguing.
I thought my turbo was FINE until saturday night when i pulled out of a junction put my foot down got to 30 in first and it was almost as if I had hit a brick wall. result was compressor wheel broken off the shaft. I had no warning this could happen no funny noises or smoke telling me something was going to go wrong soon.
So how could you definitely say yours was fine! last Saturday morning I would of said mine was fine. The reason for the post was to say I had mine mapped to the limit at 113k and the turbo although was at the time in apparently good condition, could not sustain the required boost for long, even though it has not been hammered since the map.
I would say that if your 110 had been mapped at 113k to 147bhp you would be running on the limit and chances are suffered a similar result.

how many rollers has it been on?
2 nee to get on another set really!!but there was another cupra ti ibiza there an on 3 sets of rollers before amd he hit over 200 bhp an on amd rollers 199 so my194 is acccurate!!if anything not giving it justice as i was last in the roller room an it was 27 degrees!!but when i ha it mapped at jabba there rollers said 176 but i cant see me gaining 17 bhp from fmic and air filter so i think jabba rollers uner estimate the power as i have said before!!because everyone always assumes dyno lottery makes your car have too much power but it can also be the other way aroun an not give it enough
