jimbo, could be one of the front tyres has blistered on the inner wall, i went through lots of p zeros before i gave up on them, the blister is not always easy to spot as it may be bulging inwards to the rim. suggest trip to any tyre place to remove tyre and inspect.
the blister can cause vibration and a noise. worth a check me thinks, especially as your dealer has not spotted anything wrong with the car.

jimbo, i'd just jack your car up and give your wheels a spin and make sure they run true (not buckled). my car felt just like this when i got it and it turned out to have 2 buckled wheels! i took mine to the tyre place to get them rebalanced; and they showed me the buckling; maybe worth a try?

Thanks filbro, I've not heard of that problem before, I will have to see about getting that checked too then. I have intended to change to a different tyre as one way to eliminate the problem but after spending a fair bit on the PZero's I'd like to at least get them down to a wear level that warrants new tyres (that is of course as long as they aren't blistered).

Out of interest what tyres did you change to? I've read plenty of people change to Eagle F1's but also read some good reports on the Falken 452 i believe, and they are a much better price too!!

I'm on falken 452. £61 a tyre and good perfomance, dry and wet

I currentyl have 4 x Avon ZZ3 fitted, for a branded tyre they are v cheap. You will hear mixed reports on them, but my opinion on them is they are superb. Good grip, low road noise, the compound seems 'harder' then p zeros so I think I may get more life out of them.

I've had the wheels balanced when i had the tyres put on but i guess they could have missed a possible buckle so i'll have a check cheers Danny. Cheers for the opion on the tyres to think thats the way forward seems like anyone who's tried them have liked them!... Come to think of it i think i had some many years ago on a mk3 golf and thought they were good then, funny how you forget things like that when you buy a nice car!

Just collected my car from the garage, they changed the wheel bearing and then the hub. They also curbed my wheel nicely too!

Its sounds a lot better but i'm still getting a bit of a hum from the other corner at 40mph, which if i'm not mistaken is typical wheel bearing symptoms.

Don't worry, i showed the guy who owns the company, still had bits of alloy on the tyres so he couldn't really say it wasn't them. They are going to refurb it and do the back one thats got a small chip on it as a good will gesture. Muppets!

Yeah i think i read about it, not much i can do just hope and prey. They are doing both on the drivers side so it going to be hard to tell but i guess if it looks ok it will do.

i had both my passenger sides done, and when covered in brake dust they look great.. however when clean you can see one side is clearly a gold based colour, and the other side a silver based colour! no one else has noticed yet though so its not that bad! good luck

Ok, had the 2 wheels refurbed, as far as i can tell they look the same colour as the other 2, maybe a fraction darker but too close to really notice. Also the dealership where i bought the car thinks its the tyres, they have offered to change the front ones and door a 4 wheel alignment. I will let you know if this sorts it.

Well i've kind of given up, after a wheel bearing and hub was replaced (also done just before i bought i've recently found out) i had the front discs and pads changed and now all 4 tyres the only improvement is the hum at 40mph which has gone, i still get a rubbing/grinding noise when i slow down which i can feel in the pedal, a much lound grinding noise when i turn hard into corners and bad road noise and sometimes i hear a graunching noise if i pull away fast.

Maybe the clutch or suspension, i just don't know and its really getting me down, i could take it back to the dealer i bought it from but thats an hours drive away and sooner or later they are going to tell me to jump.

Im going to get the tyres changed as the dealer is happy to continue investigating if the noise doesnt dissapear. Will prob get that sorted next week and back into dealer if that doesnt sort it.

When my Passat B5 had front bearing trouble, the noise was like I had off-road tyres fitted - a bit like the noise you hear from arm Land Rovers - wha wha wha wha - I left this for about 6 months as I was concerned that it was the front transaxle - car is 4X4 - so that would mean very big money. I was relieved when the dealer said "wheel bearing" - I got them to change both sides - noise gone. BTW there was no hint of this if the wheels were jacked and turned, also no detectable free movement at the wheels on or off the ground. Most cars you drive will be noisier than the Audi A4/A6 - Passat B5/B5.5 - Superb!

i have a 03 cupra, i noticed a humming noise from the rear,, so had the wheel bearing changed by a local garage, the noise was still there after thou!!, they then put two new tyres on the back, problem solved!!............ well for a couple of thousand miles, until the noise came back, the garage told me that it was a tyre fault, but i was not so sure, so i went to my local tyre depot (selecta tyre) and asked their opinion, they said it sounds more like a suspension problem, they showed me how the tyre has stepped, as you could feel it on your hand if you put your hand on the tread and rotated the tyre.
so, now i dont know what to do..., anybody know exactly what the suspension problem is!!??
