I know there's a fair amount of information regarding this subject; however, it all seems to concern people trying to squeeze as much out of their engines as possible (which is fair enough).

Basically, I've an FR TDi 130 (54 plate) which I like to 'up' the power and torque to match the Cupra TDi's output. My questions are as follows:

How do I go about doing this (I live in Glasgow) and how much roughly would it cost?

Would there be any adverse effect on the drivetrain etc?

Is there much difference between the engine componentry & drivetrains etc of the FR & Cupra?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered.

A standard Stage 1 remap should get you to more or less Cupra levels of power output without any significant strain on the engine or driveshaft.

The gearbox and clutch are I believe the same on the FR and Cupra although the Cupra's engine has a different turbo, injectors a large front mounted intercooler amongst other differences

Believe the injectors are the same on both PD130 and PD160 myself. How as said the PD160 has a bigger turbo.

A P1 map will get you 160bhp and a few more torques no problem.

Leigh...thanks for that mate, that gives me an angle on things.

How much would a 'Stage 1' cost roughly and does it require any 'Hardware' changes?

Cheers...Alan

No hardware changes necessary - Performance torque are doing a group buy at the moment (may have finished by now) - £225 all in.

£350 - £500 is normal sort of money for a reputable tuner

Well in the glasgow are you can get yourself a revo map from drivers or a custom code from J Gracie Motor Eng. in Duntocher - Glasgow, or there is always star performance

Stage one map will be about 170-180 bhp. Clutch is the same but gearbox has different ratio. PD130/150/160 injectors are the same, part number 038 130 073BA.

If you believe their website you can get 180bhp from a stage one map yes

I had my FR TDi remapped this week by P-Torque (Wolverhampton). It then pulled about 173bhp and 290 lb/ft on the dyno :D

beezergeezer did they limit your torque to 290????? and have u had any probs with your clutch since thay have done the remap???? as im planning to have mine done from there they seem quite reasonable and reliable? gus
