ordered and received a Green filter Cone (30cm) long, but did not realise how actually big it was going to be, and to say it's going to be tight fitting in the bay is some what an understatement.....

this can fit, with the cutting down of pipes, but my next question is, can it be too large, as in it causing a drop in performance rather than an increase?

a cold air feed is sat directly into it - similar to the dynatwist kit, so plenty of cold air

help please

Now l may be wrong here, but l've always been under the impression that if your filter is massively too big for the engine etc it can actually lower the performance....
Like l said though, l may very well be wrong, but l'm almost certain l've heard or read it some where

You cannot get too much air into the engine too easily.
The easier it is to suck the air in the more power is left for the turbo to push the air into the engine.

But if its comedy big then at least we'll get a laugh.
Also if your planning on doing shows you will get lots of sniggers

it will make a heat shield easier to build anway and the walls will be close enough to force air into the filter :)

Octobers Redline mag has a really good TT on test using a cone and Miltek exhaust.

The TT lost power with the cone!!!!

The TT was mapped at Awesome, APR.

I'v seen big power Jap car's running NO airfilter's, But then that might just be for the photoshoot's

No air filter is pertty common on hi spec jap cars. But thats running epic power with turbo's teh size of battle ships. What your saying is correct, you CAN lose power with a filter thathuge, or indeed no filter.

If you think about it this way, try to suck in through a kitchen roll tube. you cant get any power on your suck, you just suck it in. its too easy. Now try an suck through a straw. You will now be able to put in loads of effort, and really suck in hard. These effects are the same on your turbo.
Although its not quite as simple as that. Filter size seems to have more effect on carburettor cars.

here is the comedy value.....ok it was a moment of madness and for what ever reason, I just did not realise how big it was lol

it will fit, with some modification!:p:lol::D

Just read this again, thats utter pish

Its what i do after a few bevvys. But seriously its not much bigger than my K&N its just longer but not wider ( plus mine is behind the front bumper about 4 inches from the floor )

That is seriously massive lol! :-o I agree with junior senior, I can’t see how it would cause a loss in power!
