They dont run mate when they pop a boost pipe off because of the map sensor! they would run if there was a small split in a pipe tho

Don't know if I agree with this completely.

WHile back I forgot to tighten my chargepipe to where it meets the turbo, and when I drove off, I started running so horrible it seemed like it was on 1 cylinder. Rev range was all over the place....BUT it didn't cut out...

Read the previous posts agian and then read yours again. The car will cut out with a boost pipe OFF. You are talking about one not properly tightened. this would equate to a boost LEAK.
If you're not totally sure you agree, try it!

Sorry, I didn't explain properly: the pipe popped off completely....so not a leak...an entire hose was not connected.

Yes it will, I've driven mine back into my garage with 99% of the intake piepwork missing.

It won't run well, but certainly enought to move about under its own power.

Not that it matters, since the car will be on vagcom tonight ;)

thanks for confirming...

PJ I am verry sorry but mine ran as well, and as said the entire chargepipe was off the turbo...I was there and lets me honest, you weren't...;)

it ran like crap as I said, but it did run

right thank you all for your suggestions so far, had to charge the battery today to do more investigating just put it back on the car, i took out one of the plugs to check the spark nothing no spark

i think it depends on which boost pipe you pop off and how close it is to the map sensor. i agree with you if your turbo intake pipe pops off it would run, lucky you didnt do any damage to the turbo because it can spool up to fast and fook it

have you tried the crank sensor?
like i said before it sounds like it could be that, when crank sensors fail this is exactly what happens because they basically tell the coil when to spark, without it theres no spark at all, thats where i would start looking anyway, after fuses, if it was my car. is a cheaper and easier place to start than an ECU too :( let us know how you get on
