Only had my car for just over a month and have suffered a broken front fog light... Looks like a stone has hit the glass.... :(

It's a FR170 58 plate.

Are they easy to replace and how much should I be looking to pay?

Thanks

Fog lights are easy to remove, not sure about costs.
There is one philips screw located along the bottom edge of the plastic grille. one this is removed you can oull it out (clips hold it in) then there are three torx screws holding the lamp pod in place. Remove these and then the unit slots out, you can disconnect the bulb etc so all you have to do is put your new light pod thingy in and then just do up the screws and put the grille back in...there is a tutorial showing this somewhere on the site.

hey bud

Sorry about your light hey! My Dad actually came up with a cool way to protect the fogs! We had the wire mesh/gauze from my sony speakers, that we traced out the shape of the black fog light surround (we did this on his audi a3 and my seat leon cupra mk2) . Then cut out the traced shape and formed the gauze to the openings shape. Using some silicon we glued the gauze onto the plastic foglight surrounds and attached them back to the car. The curvature of the speaker gauze was perfect fit for both cars. It also looks quite cool and protects the fogs brilliantly from stone chips and breakages. Ill take some close up pics and post them. Its a simple mod but goes along way saving cash on broken fogs!

Goodluck replacing your broken one

Cheers

;)

JEEZ! That's not cheap :(

Just having a look on e-bay and there's some led ones that are cheaper... Not sure what they'd be like though

Hi LifeCrisis

Sorry its taken so long but here are the pics of the protected foglights. Hope they are clear enough to illustrate the "explaination" i gave?

Cheers

Mate can not believe it!! Just got in my car to get some lunch...noticed that i've smashed my lamp also! I had already bought the mesh and was fitting over xmas! I AM GUTTED!

Shyte bud that sucks! Its almost like Murphy sitting watchin and goes and does something like that before you put the mesh in! Well i guess you have to be glad it wasnt both. Goodluck with the mesh, just shout if you need any advice further. :) All the best

well i'm going to have a long hard search over xmas for a foglamp unit...there's no way of just replacing the glass lens is there? I think £101 inc vat is a bit steep!...
I'm not paying that! Will have to search the scrap yards in the new year for one! Bring on the icy roads! ;)

Had the same problem myself a while ago, stone on the motorway broke the glass on the front of the fog light.Got one for under £30 on e-bay and have to say you can't spot the difference between the e-bay and the original on the other side.Had it on the car for 7 months now and no problems.

is it nessery to change it, how often have you used your fog lights, probably never in my case.

not often is the answer but water ingress can't be healthy! Plus if i just cling wrapped of perspex it, if i do used it, it will melt of burn! So would def like to have it sorted. It's a shame there is no lens cap available, seems a shape to hae to chuck the perfectly functional platic and lamp holder etc!!?
