This is mine a while back, im using one square port at the min.

Im going to go down to one 15" soon though, want a bit more low down output, and this box is undersized for the pair so efficiency isnt the best.

Danny FR - im in st helens too! :D

Ah well, as long as you haven't got tinnitus, everything's alright!
(P.S poverty, my cousin couldn't do the wiring install either) but got quoted £50 from a place in west wickham to run the power cable up and RCA/remote down)

If they do all the crimping and drilling etc I think thats a fair price tbh. What about the big three? Most car audio places I have talked to about the big three dont have a clue what it is! In the end my mate got his done by a guy off talk audio!

So when do you reckon your gonna be pumping the bass? Can they scope your install also?

Bass on by definately sunday, I phoned them up at 5 today and he said I could get it booked in for friday, saturday or sunday :D. I'll ask them about scoping, (probably extra :p)
About the big 3, these people know what they're talking about and I'm sure they'll know what it is

Well you will soon find out whether you are graced with a face of confusion or a sucking noise as he tries to workout how much extra to charge you :p

Hmm, maybe not the big3/uprated battery this month, just checked my balance at an amazing £3!
(taking some out of savings for the install, then putting it straight back in on wednesday, payday!)

Cool, you will be able to appreciate the difference it makes once you get it done then.

I love pay day, I still have to wait another 23 days for mine  A month later and its new car time though :funk::funk::funk:

either a k1 cupra, 335i or a audi s3 or TT.

70% sure I will go for the K1 though as its the cheapest and only plan to keep the car until I can insure a Evo!

Ooooh you lucky man...I saw the K1 on Pulling Power the other day & nearly wet myself it is sexy :love::love:

Although surely if it's just a stop gap to an Evo why not buy a second hand Evo 9 & the savings you make instead of buying a new K1 should pay whatever obscene premium you've been quoted???

Still I'd rather have a K1 myself anyday...too many Evo's round my way & I like being slightly different to the norm.

Bigwill,

You should deffinitley try & get down if you can for the AMD meet.

Oh & I used 0AWG Cable :)

Oh the K1 will be 2nd hand!

the k1 will cost me 2400 to insure, a evo over 8 grand :cry:

0 gauge all the way for big bass, never heard a DD sub before but heard loads of good things about them. Bet your system is loud aswell!

Jebus!!!!

£2.4k!! :-o:-o
Still I guess if your comparing that to the £8k for an Evo it isnt bad bust still thats a massive amount of money :cry:

I thought I was being hit hard for £600 with mods declared ;)

I'd never had the oppurtunity to hear a DD Sub either before I bought my one so went in kinda blind with them & I'm glad I took the plunge...everything I'd heard about them was true they are an awesome sub.
Mines fed 600Wrms @ 2ohm from a Genesis Profile Sub Amp & it hammers hard but it's also tight & controlled when it needs to be...the ported box really helps with the lows.

Are you gonna be at the AMD meet??
Your welcome to have a listen if you are :)
I do have to watch the bass slightly at the mo though...my passenger side window has snapped one of the clips so it doesnt sit properly so I cant put it up or down & sometimes it slides down a little if I have it up too loud :lol:

I did some of the big three. I did my earth from battery to the airbox support on the suspension strut,

But i didnt think the alternator to battery was needed as thats a fairly chunky wirte allready

thought i'd post up mine:

boot.jpg

not the prettiest of installs...but a custom ported box, plays down to 27htz and maximises boot space (rear end designed to incline of seat) currently running 500W off Phoenix Gold Octane R800 amp

Paying 2400 I can deal with only due to the fact that two years ago I paid 2800 to insure my 1.4 beeza. London insurance premiums you see :cry:

Might come along, should be a amd customer anyway once I get the K1 as they are the closest tuner to me! The ibiza needs some warranty work done though as I think the rear nearside bearings are shot :headhurt:

Yeah I was like that with my RE Audio's. Bought them based on what others said and am so happy I did. Absolutely adore them, but do want to try the same subs as bigwill now!

Yeah you should pop down...meet the team at AMD & give you an idea of what to do to the K1 when you get it ;) lol

I knew London premiums could be bad but I never realised quite that bad :-o

I've heard good things about Fi subs.
Think if I ever have to replace the DD I'll probably look into them myself...although the temptation to buy another DD might be too great ;)

I'll be looking forward to hearing your Fi setup when it's all run in, see how it sounds...I'm expecting Awesome to be honest ;)

Back from the dead
When we got the Audi I had forgotten the boot would be smaller due to the Haldex system encroaching into the boot. The boot floor is about 6" shallower.

I therefore had to give up my single sealed box Alpine 12" R-type dual voice coil subwoofer and mono amp and go for this compromise.

The Bose system in the Audi is more a case of twin 'mids' than twin 'subs'!! :headhurt:

Pitiful, but then it's better than the alternative of nothing!!

my boyfriend used to fit 2 12" 1000w subs in the boot of his cordoba no problem, but I've got a single 12" in the boot of the Mk4 golf and it's ridiculous. Can't fit anything in there!

I think i'll pop up to the AMD meet, will all be done by then, but still not at max potential, still need to get uprated battery/big3 fitted
I'm hoping it'll be awesome for the cost of it!
Will you be at the next london meet?
