Fuse box diagram

Afternoon all,

Does anyone have a diagram of the MK4 fuse box layout available to them. I know which number goes to which item, however I'm not sure which fuse is which in the box itself.

There should be a little card on the under side of the fuse box cover (the one on the side od the dash).

Doesn't appear to be one, only the fuse removal tool. I'll take another look though.

I think the fuse numbers are embossed into the plastic of the fusebox next to each fuse. I've not had a look at mine (and it's dark outside now), but as the card only mentions fuse numbers and the circuits they cover, I'm guessing the fuse numbers must be in the fusebox, but they might be quite small and hard to see.

I think there is a more detailed list in the owner's handbook, the card is a bit vague in places. Each fuse in the box has a number allocated to it and the fuse card shows an icon representing the circuit (or type of circuit in the case of things like engine management) that each numbered fuse covers. E.g. Fuse 27 - Instrument Panel, Fuse 28 - Interior lighting.

Haynes manual has circuit diagrams and passenger fusebox layout but I'm afraid neither have airbag circuit details, just a warning:

"...This vehicle is fitted with a supplemental restraint system (SRS) consisting of a combination of driver (and passenger) airbag(s), side impact protection airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners. The use of electrical test equipment on any SRS wiring systems may cause the seatbelt pre-tensioners to abruptly retract and airbags to explosively deploy, reslting in potentially severe personal injury. Extreme care should be taken to correctly identify any circuits to be tested to avoid choosing any of the SRS wiring in error... Note: The SRS wiring harness can normally be identified by yellow and/or orange harness or harness connectors."

I removed and replaced the front passenger airbag keyswitch from the glovebox without any problems when I was fitting a Dension unit to the CD player, but any other work on the airbag circuits I think I would leave to a dealer.

I could be wrong but I didn't think there was a fuse for the SRS (airbag & tensioner) system.

The idea being that it would be too simple to pull a fuse and put the airbag light out when there is a problem.

katibiza, I see from another of your posts that the airbag warning light on the dashboard is on following an electrical problem on the car. I don't think that's going to be a fuse related problem and I think you should get the circuit checked professionally. Fault codes can be read by plugging a device running diagnostics software into a port on your car. If nothing shows as needing repair, reconnection or replacement, then the warning light can be reset by the software.

P.S: Not that it helps in this situation, but the fusebox card picture is still in the thread mentioned, it's just a bit further down than you looked.

Found it thanks. Blew the fuse on the radio.
