why you say that?it doesnt look to bad and its a family members,just needs taxing!
why not?i took it out for a spin tonight its the sri 140 full history and 83 on v plate £600,then ill have a run about wile mine is off the road,plus i should get my money back the only thing i didnt like about it is there is no fun factor and you carnt feel what the car is doing!
If its the release bearing it will have failed and wont be releasing the drive correctly meaning the box won't shift gears.
Release bearing failure on an 020 gearbox is very unlikely. A 'failed' bearing would still almost certainly allow the clutch to operate. See here
well good news is i didnt get the vectra,bad news is my clutch has gone today,it went stright to the floor when i tried to put it in 1st!!!so time to buy a clutch kit!and im after some advice and help on how to change it!i have the 1.6 engine and if i rember you have to drop the sub frame is this right?
so if any has any pointers or step by step guide that would help help that would be very helpfull!

just found the cover and taken it off and a load of oil has come out!were do i put oil back in when when i put it all back together?anyway there is a small amount of play in it!but mine looks differant to that ill go take a pic!
and the when im pressing the clutch is going to the floor and staying there i can also move the clutch arm on the gear with my hand,and the cable is lose

but the first pic is #12 on the diagram and should move in and out with the clutch arm when its pressed
the hole in it splined to fit tight onto #11 if it isn't then it's time to strip it out and see why not
that finger presses on the bearing that then pushes a rod into a metal plate in the clutch as his was worn through the pin speared it and stayed there
if ya lucky (or not really) just the outer arm is split/broke, if not and it's inside the box is coming off to fix it and it does sound like you have the plate speared fault
iirc the oil filler is on same end as the cap on the right side of it bit i'll get DPJ to confirm that for ya

that looks like the 5th gear and selector on mine 02A? (can never get used to the types)wheres the clutch cable run on yours - any chance of a pic? just wondering if the ratchet has collapsed in the cable
