Hi guys, Im quite new to the forum and my head is baffled with all the info and searching of which company is best for remapping. Basically I want to know who is best ?
I have a MK4 '52' Reg Ibiza tdi Sport and want to get the power up from 130, Ive heard of 170 being a possibilty, Is this true and who can mapp my car to that.

Thanks for any info in advance.

Steve

Most mappers can such as AmD, jabbasport, pTorque etc make 170-180 bhp ;)

everyone will have a comment on 'who is best' which you asked, each will have their own favourites so your going to get peoples on experience in replies or searches, searches usually bring back too many results for this sort of thing to, i would rather just read back a few pages of the TDI and TDI Tuning sections and look for relevant topics.

Just invest some of your own time if you want to see what people think as its all been posted before.

depends also if you want custom or generic remaps. Custom cost a bit more, but squeeze a bit more out of the car and take into account your mods (pipe, filter, intake etc) and it would be matched to your car perfectly. Generic isn't so "precise" as its a "one size fits all" kinda method.

If I were doing mine today (its Revo now - Generic) I'd be going custom to take into account mods and to get it matched. I like Revo but others find it a bit peaky in that it has good peak figures but they come on tap "all at once" where other maps might have a lower peak but a better spread or power across the rev range.

Depends on your driving style and how you want the car to feel.

Thanks guys, I was really tired the other night when I posted this topic and id been looking at the pc for hours, Id just gotten a little lazy because Id been looking into remapping for ages and not really gotten a clear pic as to who are best.

Cheers for the replies.

A good generic map will always win hands down over a poor 'custom' map

Too many people claim to do 'custom' when really, they just talk the talk.

I second p-torque. Had a remap done, and then went back to have a custom map after a few more mods I did. As Will couldn't get anymore out of it (car was maxed out on fuel and turbo boost), but he still did some logs and runs on the rolling road and didn't charge me much either.

Top customer service. Now going back to him with my new car. And got a good deal again as existing customer :)

What hardware mods did you have done between the generic and custom maps?

Just Pd130 manifold, egr delete pipe, decat, freeflowing back box, 1.8t pancake pipe. max power is however produced lower down the rev range and there is more power all the way to red-line.

Ideally needed Pd130 turbo and injectors to flow more fuel.....but as would need clutch as well with those, have decided to get Toledo PD130 and remap that straight away.

OK, thanks.

I'm quite suprised about that. No point taking mine for a custom map then, I've also had the EGR delete and CAT-Back done since my P-Torque generic map.

I don't think it would be worth a custom remap on just a egr delete and cat back -would it? But then again you got a pd150 to start with? I'm almost maxed out on boost on the standard turbo! I'm sure yours has alot more to give - especially with fuelling.

the one thing that still makes me wonder about generic is :

what approach is better a smooth map , or an aggresive map,

assuming you have an uprated clutch,

i want a map , that will be decent day to day, but when needed to go, it is noticable , as in kicks back

what is differnece in stage 1 and 2

i have miltek& decat, green panel ,

cheers

Im totally confused, before I got a diesal I always thought it was as easy as getting a remap and then its done with. Theyre so many companies and options and stages etc etc, My car is totally standard so Im unsure if to do some mods first or just go and get a remap.

Who could I go and see in the Manchester area and have a chat with....Awesome GTI ?

Just listen to the guys on the forum with regards to recommendations, and see which recommended company is convenient for you both distance and price wise.

There are good tuners out there, and some awful tuners. Stick to recommended and you'll be ok :)
