Looking for a decently priced performance backbox to fit a MK4 1.2, universal or otherwise..

My main problem is i don't want anything loud, something that isn't boomy at low revs, and doesn't grate over long journeys- just something that makes itself heard under acceleration..

Anyone know of a good make for this? Cheers :D

Anyone want to suggest a good custome place in West/Southy West Scotland? Looking for a quiet Backbox to fill the gaping hole in my new Cupra bumper, but don't want anything loud as I commute 100mi a day.

Custom seems the way to go or £100+ for a OEM cupra backbox that I'll need to rework to fit.

do search for Powerflow...i got mine done in aberdeen....bit of a Treck for you! ha ha
i was £270 for a cat back, i think ur £160 for a backbox if my memory is up to much!

I've heard a lot of bad reviews down our way about Powerflow - only as good as the garage operating the franchise unfortunately :(

Saying that - last time I heard anyone going to them was about 5 years ago... maybe they're better now??

Like u said only as good as the garage operting....but with a lifetime garauntee (as long as u dont remove the system) cant really go wrong....had mine on for a year now and only had to go back once due to hitting a speed bump which then caused a leak after the cat!

Hi there ive got a Powerflow exhaust on mine, cant fault it really, first time it was fitted it was much too loud so i took it back to have a short middle box put on. Its got a nice sound to it, if i remember rightly it cost me £250 for a cat back with middle box and oval cupra style tip

Watch out for Powerflow, the quality of the product you get is dependent on the dealer you go to. When I had my exhaust inspected by a different dealer to the one who made it they were very derogatory of the workmanship as the centre silencer had to be cut out and rewelded which basically meant me getting a free mid-section made up.

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, BUT..

As i'm only looking for a small noise increase (when flooring it) would something like an FR backbox suffice? Probably been asked before, can't find much though..

Rough price for a new one? Also, is it a straight for 1.2 or are reducers needed?

Cheers

as mentioned before...as u have specific requirements (sound, plus tip style) i would do some research on custom exhaust places around your area. thats my opinion, saves you having to bodge a fr backbox on. unsure of the pipe o.d so cant comment on the reducers but id imagine you would need something.

As mentioned above you can pick the sound u want plus the tip all for a reasonable price....plus powerflow (to name one custom exhaust place) will give you a lifetime garuntee on the exhaust providing you dont tamper with it.
