custom code, revo etc etc charge usually 500quid ish for custom maps... so 1500 seems extorcionate, unless were missing something

Your missing the point... the car was on rolling road for a full day fine tuning. Most custom mappers wouldnt use that much time at all.

Its what the company would charge for the work that was done on my car but to be fair they arent interested in mapping for the general public. Their work is with the trade.

I agree its a lot of money and not something I'd pay myself either but hell I got it free so what does it matter ;)

nope, standard smic.. mapping wont affect fmic, can add that later.

your mods will go well with p-torque stage 2 mate

Cheers James, that's what I was hoping. Always assumed the FMIC would just help hold the boost better in hot conditions at high revs etc, but as you say not actually generate power.

I've been really happy with the stage 1 map, and since I've added the TIP and exhaust after can feel the turbo spooling better. Just figured with a slight tweak could probably gain another 20BHP....

This site has a lot to answer for lol! :cartman:

Might explain the higher figures then... ;):D

I wouldnt mind sticking mine on their rolling road just out of curiousity.

true, dyno lottery is a factor but Will's maps are very strong. On the basis of the fact that I could out accelerate a 225 TT through the gears on stage 1, I think Will's quoted figures are pretty fair.

Totally agree and was meant in jest at the dyno lottery - not at Will's work which I know is very good :)

I've also out accelerated both a 225 TT and Cupra R 225 through the gears ... not bad for 205bhp eh? ;)

Even had a good play with a new Audi TTS a few days ago... although I was struggling against that but even the driver was surprised :D

yeah I knew you were messing lol!

I think it's the extra torque we have on st1 over the standard 225 engines that really helps

Graph if anyone interested...

This is the generic remap that was on my car:

This is the dyno chart for base line, generic remap and custom remap:

Check out the curves of the custom remap to the generic remap... night and day!

;)

Funny enough I was having that discussion with a mate of mine recently... he is like how can your LC beat a 225bhp equipped TT or LCR with 20bhp less (supposingly) ...

I told him to find out the torque figures and then he will understand :D

If you want torque you want a FMIC mines made one hell of a difference and its not even been mapped yet :)

Loads more pull at the top of the rev range over a SMIC.

The FMIC will give you more pull at top of rev range as the ECU wont be trying to pull timing at high rpm due to the high temps associated with SMIC's at top of rev range.

Had FMIC on my old car and that made a difference of 20bhp but the trade off was slower spool up due to the longer travel charge path... is this the same on the 1.8T engines?

You mean its more laggy?

Yeah its a little more laggy but not enough to really notice and the performance at over 4k far outweighs this.

no, i am not missing the point... custom maps are customised on a rr. the point is 1500 quid is stupid for a product that will get the same result.

i think you will find the 234bhp quoted for mine is accurate. generic maps pull your 205bhp. and drive fantastically well. if the product your using is far superior, then what is it and where are they... not that at 1500 quid they will get much business on here i would doubt.

lots of members have had true 230-240 form ko3s, so to say that wills figures come from his rr is b$&&ox mate.... cc, revo, apr all do the same for 4 times less than your generic map would be.

dont doubt its good, but its you missing the point i think. rant over:doh:
