Ye sound advice all round guys.Cheers for all the input. Will get it serviced at seat garage I reckon and have the brake fluid done too. After all,the kids lives are not to be messed with, not forgetting the mrs.

Just to thrown this in....

I had a 20k Service + Brake Fluid change + Air Con 'service / top up' for £300 at local dealer, I know they've not put their prices up since either.

I know it's not exactly warm outside but see what your dealer will do with the price while they've got the bonnet up....

Mine had a brake fluid change and the pedal feel and therefore the performance was distinctly better. Done at 2nd year and about 8k miles. Modern fluid should be less hygroscopic but the result wa definitely noticeable and the warranty is unarguable.

I just service my car myself.....works out cheaper. :p Just done a full service on mine for £150. New discs and pads all round, changed brake fluid, oil and filter, fuel filter, wipers blades, K-seal and some uprated full beam bulbs :D

Defo change the brake fluid regularly because Ive worked on cars that have never had it done i wouldnt want to be driving it!

Mine gets whatever it needs, brake fluid, pads or whatever. Changing my oil 2 or 3 times between services may be classed as a waste of money by some, but funnily (touch wood), but it is the life blood of the engine and turbo which makes it very worthwhile to ensure it is clean.

I always find my car goes alot better with a oil and filter change so change mine regularly aswell

Well I've bit the bullet and just taken car in for service and brake fluid change at Rustys Seat in sunny Scunny.250 notes. Helped by the fact the dpf engine management and glow plug lights were flashin at me like crazy and in limp mode.

Al, you got a good deal, I rang them as I live in Grimsby and they wanted £260 for my FR PLUS £60 for the brakefluid? Did you buy the car from them?

Danny.

No,got it from motordepot in scunny.Just haggled with them a bit.
260 notes for basically oil change and filter is a bit steep.Apparently even the air filter is not changed or the derv filter.

I got the 20k service done on mine for £175 from Rutherfords of earlston inc courtesy car and new EGR Sensor fitted.

Sounds good value if they also changed the brake fluid too?
New egr sensor would be warranty job anyway.
Sounds like they know how to look after their customers though.

Yeah the EGR was warrenty work. that wasnt incuding the brake fluid - didnt get that done as i was looking to get rid of the car within a few months after the service (Part ex'd it yesterday for an edition 30) they wanted an extra £60 for the fluid change.

The guys at rutherfords are spot on - never had an issue with them. I will also be taking the new golf there as they do all VAG Marques service and warrenty work. they own the petrol station at the garage as well so what i normally do is pickup the courtesy car from the petrol station any time up till 9:00PM the night before and leave my car there - same for returing the courtesy car and picking mine up after its been in.
