Not going to be a cheep mod, unless ebay has something to offer (doubt it in these early days) but Im wanting to fit a steering wheel from the FL Cupra to my MY08 Cupra and possibly in the future the instrument cluster (if its the same fit?)

Does anyone know if it's possible??

Thanks in advance!

Mike dont do it.
I had a courtesy car last week , all week from SEAT with the new steering wheel and it feels and looks cheap and nasty , tacky , the buttons are slightly raised and i was forever hitting all the buttons on the wheel when turning or changing hand position , was bloody annoying , yes you might get used to it over time but it will be an annoyance after all that work to switch them over and you would be saying to yourself was it worth it?.

also the buttons have swapped sides the volume is now on the left and the trip computer is on the right  again you might get used to it but even after a week i was hitting the trip computer wondering why the volume was not changing

tbh i was glad to give it back , got back in my car and the steering wheel felt great.
just my opinion of course.

Thanks for that insight. Was it a Cupra wheel, would it make much difference?

Nah he pretty much got it spot on i think.

The wheel is quite different in the facelift cupra i have from pre-fl cupra.

But, after 2 days with the car, im totally used to it. Yes the buttons have switched sides but its not a problem. There a bit easier to press, i found myself sometimes having to push quite hard on the rubber buttons for the pre-fl wheel for the volume etc.

The actual feel of the wheel to me is nicer, its not as thick, but i dont have huge hands so its much more comfortable for me to use, and it seems slightly smaller overall aswell.

I prefer the new wheel over the last.

I also really do like the white instrument cluster to be honest, looks much better and cleaner than the red one on my pre-fl.

Agreed. Also I have changed my centre console illumination to crisp white it would go really well together.

I want a flat bottomed, slightly smaller feelin, sporty steering wheel but really want it to remain oem looking.

As far as how it feels i might see if i can grab a cheeky test drive somewhere.

Deciding factors, what I decide on the 'feel'
Cost
Ease of install (Vag com reqd etc etc)

Im at work tmz till 8pm but its pretty quiet on saturday. My work is jus one straight road off the motorway. You wouldnt be able to drive it coz i wouldnt be able to leave work but i can come outside so you can have a sit in it to see the wheel if you want.

If you want to drive it i work 4 on 4 off and usually have weekdays off. and im next of tuesday-friday.

Hey folks, bumping the thread up! But is this possible then? I know you can do it in the MK5 Golf, but you need to change the steering wheel controller.

What's the deal with the Pre-FL Leon, can you just get the FL steering wheel and replace the old one with it?

It keeps crossing my minds. Would pain me to do it but I dont want to neglect the car.
££££ these days :( Hopefully let it take a sideline for a while and get a sh*tter daily drive.
All depends if I stay in Germany or move back to Uk.

Hope you keep it Mike, you had some decent plans for it from what I remember.
