Dont know if this is in the right place but my insurance allows fitting of stainless steel exhausts without any charge.

Would the Miltek DPF removal pipe be classed as part of a stainless steel exhaust?

Please move if not in the right place (just want to capture the audience that the DPF removal is related to)

Anything that changes the power or speed of the car is a performance mod and will invalidate the insurance if not properly declared.

Since DPF removal is a performance mod, it should be declared to the insurance company.

A stainless steel exhaust would be for cosmetic reasons only and have no bearing upon performance.

If theres a way to fit the Miltek back with no performance gain (cant see why you would want to) then you may be able to get away with it as a stainless steel exhaust.

Most insurance company's will offer packages of up to 3 mods for very little extra cost (5-10%). Do the right thing and let the insurance company know about it, whats a few quid compared to the thousands youve spent on your pride and joy. Dont take the risk!

Kinda didnt answer his question

He was asking if the DPF removal pipe could be classed as a stainless exhaust , From above the answer is NO

But i would check with your insurance company! they might class it as exhaust system

Most stainless steel exhausts are fitted to improve performance - many of them have a silencer removed, which to me is extremely similar to fitting a "hollow" DPF.

Probably if you ask, they'll be unsure themselves - and will depend on how you word the question and who you end up with on the other end of the phone!

Who's the insurance company?

It's Swiftcover

If it doesn't cost then you might as well tell them so you can't get caught out later. Just tell them at the same time you tell them about the remap you had to stop the ecu noticing the dpf is gone.
