Well I've had diesels for last three cars - you need to adjust to how to drive them fast as they don't rev like petrols. Had a ZX 1.9D (non turbo which was suprisnigly fast. Follwed by modded ZX Volcane TD which was great, put many an expensive car to shame, but it blew a piston ring. Put in new engine but then Seat were bringing out new Leon at the time, so got a good deal on Mk1 Fr TDI. When i was fixing ZX borrowed Ford Steet KA (Convertible) but was costing me a fortune in fuel (Go kart handling tho and i miss having the top down - shame on me)
At the time of purchase Insurance and road tax on new FR TDI were both cheaper than 9 yr old ZX Volcane - hows that work out ? Obviously purchase cost needs to be factored in, but if you are looking to change car, then your gonna have to stump up anyway - just depends on budget. I intended to keep car for at least 5 years, which will be this spring.
Keeping a bit longer now (as other house projects + waiting for prices to fall on estate i got my eye on) so gonna do bigger mods this year, already got parts to go on for Stage two remap : SS big bore exhaust, air filter, 312 brake kit (need to paint calipers as they off Octavia VRS) upper S3 brace (lower fitted last service), so once i can get back in the garage and parts prepped and put on, engine will be remapped and car will have been perked up a bit

cheers Andrew, i use the search all the time to be honest, only ask questions if i cant find much on a subject. But i know what you mean. Well, ive decided i need to start saving asap to get a diesel as they are worth more than what my Cupra will be. By the looks of it they also hold their value more too.
