Detailing Help needed Loughborough area

Hi all, is this anyone in the Loughborough area that can help me with advice on detailing my car. i.e claying polishing properly, and interior please.

me too, just brought some clay and lube and could do with some tips from some one thats done it before, not wanting to make thing worse,

Im no major detailer but i know how to clean a car properly put it this way.
When claying (ideally do it after the car has been washed) make sure you use plenty of lube and dont let the clay get too hard or cold. Turn the clay regularly to a clean section.
After claying panal by panal use some decent polish to seal in the work you've just done with the clay bar. I use Autoglym srp followed my Megs tech wax 2.0
This always brought my old Quiksilver up a treat (and this was silver which is always hard to attain decent reflections with).
Dodo juice do some awesome detailing products depends on your budget...

mines black non metalic, so i have to be careful with the scratches as the smallest things mark it. i have clayed it before a few times. it did get a lot of the stubben stuff off but just wanted to know the best ways to do it and perfect it.
a lot easier when some1 shows you.

I was at a Meguiar's detailing seminar on Saturday and learned quite a few things that I want to try out when the weather improves. The basic order for exterior stuff is:

1. Wash car normally to get rid of heavy bits of dirt (don't use washing up liquid since the anti-grease compound eats your wax)
2. Clay (fingertip pressure with plenty of lubricant)
3. Paint cleaner (non abrasive) to get rid of heavier contaminants that the wash missed
4. Anti-scratch compound if needed (for light scratches you can't feel with a fingernail)
5. Wax (to replace what the abrasive anti-scratch stuff removed)

Obviously you need to dry, wipe or buff off each step as you go along, and the applications are all a little different, but that's the gist. Follow the instructions on the bottles

And remember, claying without washing means that any pieces of grit you pick up get rubbed all over the car and create new scratches.

cheers mate i use maguiars stuff anyway i got the clay kit and the suds the polish i use varys normally autoglym.

i need a decent wax though. i heard you cant go wrong with the maguiars porducts.

Nothing wrong with the AutoGlym kit, gaz. Esp. the SRP that Liam mentioned. (BTW, Liam, you should ALWAYS clay the car AFTER it's been washed.. You simply cannot clay over a dirty car!? Scratch-galour!)

I was supposed to be down your way today infact.. Ashby Forville to visist a rather nice Porsche Carrera 4S. However, the boiler blew-up last night, so, I've had to stay in and wait for Mr. Boiler-Man to come and fix it!

If you're ever up near me (Newark-On-Trent..) be sure to give me a shout.

For black, I'd probs reccomend Victoria Concours for looks.. but, Collinite 476s for durability.

really? non metallic black? I thought all black LCR's were metallic

yeah Ashby is only a few mins from me. nice little village.

im guna wait for the weather to get a bit better as we are suppose to get more snow.
ill have a look about for the products. dont like to pay thru the nose for mag stuff from halfords is crazy prices.

really? non metallic black? I thought all black LCR's were metallic

yeah i didnt realise when i first purchased the car but it said on the log book ebony black contacted seat and they said its non-metalic.
