Thanks fella!

3 pin but different (awkward) wiring plug isnt it ?

i have both fan switches at home, it is the same...if you have for example golf mk2, than you also must buy a connector.

T4 fan switch

What sort of price are the switchs flapper because I'm thinking about going for the Neuspeed one's from Awesome GTi..... they are 82degC but don't state the switch on & off range.

What's the best to have the water temps at about 80degC????

If so this one would be best?

xefs260 : 50296 : 88-79/110-102

Got a genuine part number on that one flapper?

Match that with a 82degC thermostat from Neuspeed and could do the job. I was reading a lot of boys from Club GTi run lower temp thermostats (eg 75degC) but probably have the smaller rad than the ABF????

found some pics now an all the x-ref above show 3 pin but all standard in line blades and it should look like zero's pic above in a triangle

ill dig deeper as there will be less to choose from so ill edit that above so ignore me for a minute as that xefs260 is wrong connector

*sorted

Zero's nailed it

thats the lowest temp one and i've found one in between the two in case it's too cool so i've edited the list

The bit I've bolded is there two different operating temps?

In two minds to either get a different VAG thermostat & fan switch or get this Neuspeed one from Awesome GTi???

many times i don´t understand everything so i am not sure if you want to know this :) -> original fan has two stages, because of that two different operating temps.

if you like 71° thermostat and 81°/87° fan switch than buy from VW, if not than buy aftermarket.

i can tell you price in euros just to know where are you. 22eur for T4 fan switch

Thanks Zero, thats what I needed to know. 22eur is about the same as the neuspeed ones then.

Flapper, The fan switches on the ABF have 3 pins in line don't they? Going up the bodyshop tomorrow to pull the plug off and have a look :)

I thought the same hence having a list of altrernatives for the ( III ) type buty x-referencing the genuine number (should always do it both ways) it shows the pyramid style as listed above

i need to look at mine again as i have the wrong spare if it is

its not been mentioned i dont think, but a davis craig water pump might help flow the water a bit better and keep the temps down?
Fitted one to a very hot running audi turbo engine and it sorted it no end. Uses its own temperature control in the head to control whether it runs or not, can also be used with the standard water pump, flows several times as much as the standard pump too...

just a thought

Went up the bodyshop this afernoon, pulled the plug out and the pin layout is the same as the photo Zero posted so the Neuspeed one isn't much good.

And Flapper you have the right spare by the sounds of it :)

Well wanted to go for the Neuspeed but the pin layout is different, since that was 82degC the best choice from teh VAG range would be the one that Zero mentioned, (81-70 / 87-76) but Flaper or Zero what would be the best thermostat to use?

The Neuspeed one is 82degC, Zero what have you used? And what car did you use these on?

i have wrote some posts before that ABF and T4 fan switches are the same :)

If you want Neuspeed fan switch than you must buy older connector like from golf mk2 and cost ca 6eur.

here is my connector for fan switch from ibiza soldered on G60 loom
(because G60 loom has older connector with 3 pins in line)

i have used the parts on G60, with my ABF and ca 180HP i don´t have problems with water even with hard driving in hill :)

which temp degree can you get from Neuspeed for thermostat/fan switch?

p.s. buy two SPAL fans if your rad is big enough :)

The Nuespeed one's are 82degC but I would rather the VAG one's now, save cutting up the wires to.

Emailed Saxon Motorsport asking for his 2p worth and he said that it won't work, tried it before and did prolong it during a race but it doesn't stop the temps raising.

I'm thinking of a custom one made up again now, bloody car is costing too much now lol.

Dave as has been said by flapper and stu get some airflow over your rad. You can scoop it up from the holes in the splitter. Get a thermostat back in too as your car not warming up will cause your engine to wear out fast too.

Let I said I have all the air ducts in place and I have the F2 cut outs in the bumper, don't think I can get much more air flow unless I have a scooby vent on the bonnet lmao

I'm going to sit down and work out the Ibiza funds as I have a set of R888's lined up once it's out of the bodyshop again and my compo's are getting powder coated. Then I may pop up to A H Fabrications and let them do their magic on it! Smaller in height rad to make more room for the bodies and wrc cores mmmmmmmm

as you mentioned it :p

wasn't the F2 bonnet vent designed to let air out to help cool the brakes and fluid tanks ?? mind you that was with a different component layout
